Business Development Officer

A registered non-profit in the US, UK, France and Belgium, our work targets those fragile countries or communities that suffer from recurrent man-made or natural crises that impede human development. The people that we serve live in seventeen countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia where the debilitating effects of political instability, forced displacement, and natural disasters are pervasive. Often, RI is the only organization providing healthcare, education, logistics, energy, capacity building, economic development, sanitation, and many other forms of assistance to these highly vulnerable communities.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Livelihoods Project Coordinator the Business Development Officer is responsible for supporting vulnerable youth in their entrepreneurial journey, guiding them from ideation to the successful launch of their own businesses.
Essential Functions and Areas of Accountability:
- Under the supervision of Livelihoods Project Coordinator Business Development Officer is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the delivery of Entrepreneurship Training, Green Skill building, in addition to the Business Coaching, mentorship, and grant support activities.
- Assist and guide individuals through entrepreneurship exploration, and Work closely with participants to help them develop and refine a feasible proposal for their activities that demonstrates an appropriate timeline and budget for proposed activities; and ensure they have a feasible comprehensive business plan.
- Assist in designing intervention and monitoring the resources of entrepreneurship, business development, and mentorship components, prepare budget estimates and expenditure forecasts in relation to planned activities and making recommendations for remedial action. Identify potential problems, propose solutions and actions.
- Determine appropriate assessments and interventions required to assist individuals in achieving their self-employment goals.
- Recruit and train a network of mentors who will provide guidance and support to entrepreneurs throughout their business journey.
- Facilitate the one-on-one mentorship sessions, group discussions, and networking opportunities to foster meaningful connections between mentors and mentees.
- Develop a transparent and fair process for awarding business grants to eligible entrepreneurs.
- Oversee the application and selection process, ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines and funding regulations.
Work Coordination:
Internal direct reporting, dotted line work coordination and external coordination
The Job holder reports directly to the Livelihoods Project Coordinator
Span of control and decision making
The Job holder should take decisions related to the accountabilities and tasks outlined above while coordinating directly with the Livelihoods Project Coordinator Any decision beyond her/his realm or responsibility should be discussed with the Program Manager and the Program Coordinator.
Working Conditions / Operating Environment
The job holder will be part of the team members who will be located at the RI office in Amman. However, frequent field visits to the Azraq and Zaatari camps is an integral part of the job -description.

Qualifications and Requirements:
- BA/S or equivalent in Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship Management, Finance, Economics, or any other relevant university degree.
- A minimum of Three years experiences in livelihoods, Business Development, Entrepreneurship training and mentoring activities.
- Demonstrate attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently as well as cooperatively with team members.
- Ability to best represent RI in meetings and workshops.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and has ability to work effectively with others in a cross-cultural and fragile environment.
- Self-motivated and initiative taker.
- Demonstrated initiative in creative problem solving and decision making.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit.
- Good report writing skills.
- Very Good in English speaking and writing
- Excellent skills related to Microsoft Office.
