Position Description
The Accounting and Finance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to handling accounts payables and other accounting transactions for the ECO Consult. His/her duties include the recording of expenses and payments (including salaries of office and project resources). He/she also participates in the preparation of cost proposals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Record and reflect fully, accurately, clearly, and in a timely manner on the expenses and allocated funds.
- Review disbursement requests received from the projects.
- Ensure that the required contractual documents are complete/aligned with the budget and the Finance Manual.
- Review payment requests and prepare payment vouchers.
- Maintain petty cash transactions, including writing receipts, preparing payment request forms, and cash disbursement.
- Works on matters related to ECO Consult payable and receivable account transactions.
- Manage banking transactions related to the project, including preparing bank transfer requests, submitting them to the bank, monitoring transfers, and preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements and reporting.
- Maintain the internal expenditure control system which ensures that vouchers processed are matched and completed, and transactions are correctly recorded.
- In coordination with the Finance & Administration Manager, prepares reports and forecasts.
- Prepare and generate reports detailing financial information/statements/reports related to assets, liabilities and expenses (monthly, quarterly and annually).
- Analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations in order to project as well as assess future revenues and expenses.
- Ensure that the transactions are in line with internal and Governmental policies and procedures and in accordance with International Accounting Standards (IAS)
- Prepare and process accounts payables/receivables between ECO Consult and clients in accordance with contracts/agreements.
- Follow-up on insurance reimbursements and travel requests.
- Processes and follows up on all office expenses and payments.
- Prepare, process and distribute monthly salary slips.
- Liaise with Governmental agencies (i.e. Social Security) and provides needed records and payments.
- Assists in preparing costing proposals for clients.
- Maintenance of the proper filing system for finance records and documents according to the Budget Line for each project.
- Assist on financial audits.
- Support in any additional tasks as required.
Qualifications and Competencies
- University degree in a related field (Accounting, economics, finance, etc.) with at least two years of experience in the accountancy department.
- High level of Arabic and English interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and spoken).
- Experience in working with multiple projects at the same time.
- High organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team with and understanding and sound judgment in multi-cultural workspace.
- Ability to work independently.
- Auditing background or accounting certificates are a plus.
