Gender Sensitive Socioeconomic Assessment Expert
Background:
As part of the partnership between The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)-Jordan, within Climate Promise Project, the parties seek to implement Gender Sensitive Socio-economic Assessment in Ma’an Governorate.
The Gender socioeconomic analysis involves assessing the impact of gender on various socioeconomic factors and understanding how gender inequalities affect economic outcomes. Some common measurements used in gender socioeconomic analysis includes accessing social protection, benefits, labor ratio, financial institutions, wages, income, understanding how gender norms influence the division of unpaid care and domestic work, poverty implications and many other factors that need to be identified, in addition to opportunities and challenges facing women at household and environment level.
The socioeconomic assessment will target Ma’an Governorate based on population size, ensuring a diverse representation of communities. The study approach will provide a comprehensive overview of the socioeconomic conditions in different areas, enabling a more accurate and nuanced understanding of the gender-related dynamics within the governorate.
Scope of Work:
JOHUD is seeking to commission a Gender Sensitive Socio-economic Assessment Expert to conduct a comprehensive gender socioeconomic status analysis related to climate change issues to identify gender disparities, address inequalities, and promote more inclusive and equitable economic development through the project interventions.
To achieve the desired outcome, requires a significant amount of focus and extensive engagement with various stakeholders, including government officials, municipalities, the private sector, community leaders, CSOs, academics, women employed, and women-owned businesses. The assigned consult will undertake the below under the direct supervision and support of JOHUD team:
- Desk Review: provide context, insights, and evidence-based information that guides the direction of the study and helps ensure its relevance and significance by Literature Search, gathering data from various sources, including official statistics, surveys, case studies, and evaluations, that provide insights into the subject being studied.
- Action plan and needs assessment tools development: the plan of action will be developed, along with the needs assessment tool for the Key Information Interviews (KII) questionnaires, as well as Focus Discussion Groups questionnaires.
- Implementation of the Field work: the consultant supported with JOHUD team will conduct several FDGs, KIIs and stakeholders’ workshops after the desk review to cover all Ma’an districts and localities.
- Data analysis: Involves organizing the data, identifying patterns and trends, calculating relevant statistics, and conducting statistical tests if necessary. The analysis will also involve comparing data from different sources and subgroups to identify any significant differences or correlations.
- Report development and submission : submission of the final report with the findings and results, to derive valuable information and findings that can inform decision-making, policy development, and program implementation related to the gender socioeconomic assessment.
Assignment Duration: 2 Months, maximum 25 working days.
Education, Knowledge and Experience:
· Minimum Bachelor degree in social science, economics, or any related discipline.
· At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in socioeconomic assessments/studies including research and data analysis.
· Proven track record in reports writing, organizing and implementing stakeholders engagement workshops.
· Solid facilitation skills.
· Fluency in Arabic and English.
Desirable:
- INGO Experience
- Master degree would be an advantage.
