The Program / Department / Team
Mercy Corps and Axiom International will implement a 24-month program “Inclusive Security and
Resilient Youth Project – ISRY,'' a community-based development program supporting at-risk youth in
Jordan between the ages of 15 to 30. ISRY will adopt a positive youth development approach to
psychosocial support interventions to promote learning; increase stability through co-existence and
inclusive security and build the psychosocial resiliency of youth and their families. Mercy Corps, in close
coordination with Axiom, will create connections between youth and Public Security actors through
engagement in Nature-based activities and community-based activities. In close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Ministry of Social Development, the program will identify three local community- action hubs- CAHs in the north, center, and south of Jordan – to establish Community Action Hubs that provide youth with a safe space to improve social stability and ultimately make youth and their communities more resilient. Additionally, the program will seek to strengthen the CAHs’ institutional capacities to sustain long-term impact The project will place additional focus on the national level to strengthen the role of women and youth representation in the Youth Peace and Security – YPS 2250 -coalition in Jordan, through close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and other stakeholders.

The Position
The Training Coordinator provides overall support to the respective PSS specialist and capacity-building
team leader; to ensure the successful delivery of community-based MHPSS interventions under the ISRY
project. S/he will have overall responsibility for leading the development, implementation, and training of
the Psychosocial Support Programming based on the Profound Stress & Attunement framework. The
assigned person will make these efforts possible through leading PSS relevant research; guiding the
training team; organizing and supervising training plans; implementing training workshops.

Through the documentation and reporting of learning the training coordinator shall provide an advisory
role to the training officers, work directly with the area coordinator and officers, and other technical units
to contribute to the future growth of the program.

Essential Responsibilities
OPERATIONAL PSS & CAPACITY BUILDING:

1. Provide technical support throughout the project’s cycle (situation analysis, planning,
implementation, and evaluation) with a particular focus on the development and implementation
of the project’s capacity-building activities in close coordination with different projects’ functions.
2. Contribute to the capacity building of the MHPSS pieces of training and youth session plans and
provides day-to-day coaching and mentoring to the training officers.
3. Provide capacity building and knowledge sharing to ISRY team members in MC and partner
CAH personnel to ensure the delivery of youth activities in communities/CAHs that adhere to
project overall goals.
4. Support other functions in the delivery of the training plans provided to community coaches and
other local governmental actors who are directly working or contributing to the projects’
objectives.
5. Perform other duties as assigned in the implementation of program activities.
6. Supervise MC training officers through structured learning circles, and one on one meetings in
coordination with the ISRY team leader.
TOOLS AND MANUAL DEVELOPMENT:
7. Contribute and provide technical input during the design of the projects’ activities in close
coordination with all PSS and Capacity Building team members.
8. Develop the capacity-building plan of the project and implement refresher workshops and learning
circles to support community coaches in partners CAHs, as well as develop and adapt strategies
to help them address challenges and behaviors that are faced during the implementation.
9. Prepare and design the foundation training of the project and conduct direct facilitation for the
project’s partners.
10. Ensure quality of participant programming and training delivery through contributing to the content
development, overseeing the delivery, scheduling, and providing the necessary support.
11. Support quality assurance through review results of training programs evaluations, attendance,
and training data, and recommend necessary actions to maintain the quality of the project’s
activities in close coordination with all PSS and Capacity Building team members.
12. Leading the implementation of training programs targeting governmental entities and civil-society
organizations implementing Youth and Family Support Programming. This includes coaches and
mentors from organizations who are often non-teachers and aim at improving their creative
facilitation skills of workshops and community activities in line with the PSA framework. As well
as supporting instructors to develop further behavior strategies and attunement skills that enable
young people and their caregivers to build their positive stress coping strategies.
13. Oversight and provide technical guidance to ISRY training officers and area officers, CAHs teams,
coaches, and host communities on regular basis. This includes the development of weekly and
monthly progress reports that highlight challenges and required actions to ensure successful
implementation of the training work plan and associated activities.

14. Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to
Mercy Corps and not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
15. Other relevant duties as assigned.
PEOPLE (Team MANAGEMENT):
16. Effectively manage the ISRY Capacity-building team, and coordinate the day-to-day activities
including capacity building, planning, intervention methods, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting.
17. Ensure the implementation level are monitored and coordinated properly based on the needs of
each location. And that the mechanisms are designed to be later sustained and owned by the
CAH partners.
18. Conduct monitoring of CAH personnel engaged in MHPSS activities, including sampling cases
and checking cases are managed as per relevant psychosocial service provision protocols,
assuring fidelity of MHPSS interventions.
19. Manage CAH activities and training team, ensure there is adequate coverage during periods of
absence, training needs are met, and performance evaluated.
20. Community Collaboration and Capacity-building: Provide training and coordination with other
organizations to promote network development and to better address the needs of youth and their
families.
21. Project Evaluation: Track and ensure project objectives are met. Participate in the implementation
of project evaluation.

coordinator, nature club officers, and M&E Teams

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our
program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding
international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as
equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.
Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills
• BA/S or equivalent in social work, social sciences, Conflict, or other relevant field experience required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience performing required tasks in development sector.
• Understanding of community-based protection networks is preferred.
• A minimum of 1-year experience in field research projects, ideally in areas of social and community
studies.
• Understanding of Profound Stress & Attunement framework, conflict, advocacy, community
engagement, and caregiver involvement is preferred.
• Strong management skills, with a good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues and the ability
to work with the host community populations.
• Demonstrated skills in data collection and database management, organized, and able to handle
many responsibilities simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as part of a team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic, including report development,
writing, and editing.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word, as well as online
collaboration facilitation tools such as Google drive tools.
• Positive, respectful attitude and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Demonstrated attention to detail; ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and work independently
as well as cooperatively with team members.
