ABOUT THE LOGISTICS CLUSTER

Comprised of a diverse, multi-skilled group of logisticians, the Logistics Cluster, led by WFP, is mandated by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) to complement and co-ordinate the logistics capabilities of co-operating humanitarian agencies during large-scale complex emergencies and natural disasters. The Global Logistics Cluster Support Cell (GLCSC) is also tasked with advocacy on behalf of the cluster approach, information management, training, preparedness, and the development of new tools and resources to benefit emergency humanitarian response operations.

In line with the Strategy 2022-2026, the GLCSC is required to deliver under the pillars 3 "Strengthening Response Capacity” – Actors involved in humanitarian logistics are better equipped to collaboratively prepare and respond to emergencies." And pillar 4 “Operational Support” – effective and fit-for-purpose response mechanism is developed and maintained to provide coordination, information management, and facilitate access to common logistics information and services.

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will contribute to the implementation of the Logistics Cluster Strategy and more specifically support coordination, information management, reporting and communications.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Information Management, in close coordination with the Global Logistics Cluster Coordinator, the incumbent will:

Logistics Cluster corporate identity & style guide and brand guidelines

  • Review/develop and regularly update the Logistics Cluster corporate identity & style guide and brand guidelines.
  • Inform, advise and train colleagues and relevant stakeholders appropriately.
  • Carry out quality controls and ensure that the Information Management standards are applied and respected worldwide and for all documents, materials and platforms (incl. website and social media).
  • Support production of documents and materials to be used by field operations and/or at events, in compliance with brand guidelines.
  • Lead on updating the visibility items catalogue and mock-ups.
  • Develop a common symbology catalogue (in syg format) for icons used by the Logistics Cluster (e.g. airports, ports, warehouses, etc.)

Information and communication toolbox

  • Mobilize technical knowledge and strategic foresight to develop and update a comprehensive information and communications toolbox to support Information Management officers in the Global Logistics Cluster Support Cell and operations (incl. templates and step-by-step guidance, recommended tools and tips, all in compliance with corporate WFP IT standards, Logistics Cluster identity & style guide, brand guidelines and best quality standards).
  • Develop and disseminate appropriate standards of procedure to ensure consistent use of the above-mentioned tools and templates.
  • Develop training modules and deliver trainings as required.
  • Manage the archiving of pictures and videos, and develop guidelines on their use.

Logistics Cluster information and communication products and platforms

  • Develop, improve or update static, interactive or animated infographics, images and visuals, presentations and documents, videos to support the Logistics Cluster donors and partner organizations, advising on best ways to communicate information and effectively convey messages.
  • Develop and properly store Social Media template materials and Adobe – After effects, audio and video material for outreach and communication.
  • Support the Head of Information Management to conceptualize and design the Logistics Cluster website layout, graphics, logos and banners.
  • Manage the visual design of the Logistics Cluster website and ensure a consistent look and feel across all online sections.
  • Provide creative ideas in continuously fostering improvements to the existing or new tools and documents.
  • Recognize and assess the sensitivity of information obtained and respect the confidential nature of sources of information where relevant.
  • Take responsibility for an equitable and inclusive workplace which incorporates all dimensions of the WFP diversity and inclusion framework.
  • Perform any other relevant duty as required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

  • Style consistent but innovative products have been designed and provided within the required and agreed timeframes.
  • Repository/Archiving of all finished products.
  • A finalized Logistics Cluster corporate identity & style guide.
  • Brand guidelines (logos, icons, fonts, coulour palette, etc), with a visibility item catalogue and mock-ups of items.
  • Multimedia hub/archive of photos and videos per thematic area, project, and country.
  • Guidelines on use of pictures and videos.
  • Comprehensive toolbox, including portfolio of standardized graphic templates and step-by-step guidance.
  • Inventory and repository of outreach and communication templates.

STANDARD MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • University degree in graphic arts, graphic design and information systems.

Experience

  • 3 (three) to 5 (five) years of relevant postgraduate experience related to web graphic design, infographics, publication design and reports design, preferably in an international environment.
  • Experience in using social media in a professional context is an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive experience with: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Publisher, Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects (or any other video editing tool)
  • Sketch or Adobe XD
  • HTML programming and UX or UI skills
  • Illustration or Animation skills
  • Experience with Tableau is a distinct advantage

In addition, following skills/knowledge are required:

  • Some knowledge and understanding of the humanitarian environment and/or humanitarian logistics or curiosity, interest in the subject and willingness to learn more;
  • Ability to work independently while asking questions and seeking support in a fast-paced work environment;
  • Project Management skills, with the ability to manage and work on several projects, sometimes under pressure, to adhere to production schedules and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to understand users’ needs and to customize services and products accordingly, in order to provide user-friendly solutions that meet user requirements;
  • Ability to develop and deliver training adapted to the needs and skills of co-workers;
  • Strong client-orientation, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work in a multicultural team;
  • Eye for design and high attention to detail.

Language

  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Working knowledge of a second UN official language is highly desired.
