The Aircraft Servicer services aircraft, performing any combination of the following
tasks, directs incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal or flight line parking area to assist
pilot's maneuvering of the aircraft on ground, using hand or light signals or drives light truck
with guiding sign, and secures aircraft in parking position with aircraft wheel chocks, installs
landing gear and safing pins.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
- Operates service vehicles to replenish water, waste system chemicals (at select locations)
- Assists with refueling, defueling and towing aircraft (tow vehicle operator).
- Operates ground support equipment such as electrical power carts, engine starting
carts, air conditioning carts, nitrogen carts, oil and hydraulic carts for serving aircraft.
- Examines tires for specified air pressure and condition.
- Positions boarding platforms to unload or load aircraft passengers (stair case truck).
- De-ice aircraft wings and assemblies (select locations)
- Extract engine oil samples when required and provide to NDI for analysis.
- Coordinates via land mobile radio with air traffic control for follow me and towing of
aircraft to designated parking spots.
- Retrieve Drag chutes and return to owning maintenance unit.
- Coordinates with base supply in ordering parts for aircraft.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures
- Additional knowledge/skill requirements may be required by assignment or contract
Experience & Education
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airframe / Power plant license or DD 214 with
documentation reflecting aircraft maintenance experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Additional experience/education may be required by assignment or contract
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
- Long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse condition
- Must be a US Citizen
Travel
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
