JOB BRIEF

Curio is founded on warm, loving relationships between our students, parents, teachers and staff members. We provide children with educational activities appropriate for young learners, taking into account their physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs. We realize the importance of providing a nurturing, safe inspiring environment, rich with opportunities to be open and curious. We also aim to provide a supportive and inspirational working environment for all our staff members.

The childcare provider ensures a safe and compassionate environment for babies aged 2 months – 1.5 years. She provides children with a well-rounded support system or program that stimulates their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth, while meeting their basic needs. She plans and implement activities that are age-appropriate, with the child’s well-being in mind, while adhering to Curio’s policies as the Save the Children Jordan (SCJ) Safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Principal

Staff directly reporting to this post: N/A

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors and supervises children keeping them safe and healthy;
  • Prepares food and snacks for children and organizes meal time;
  • Helps children maintain good hygiene and ensures that diapers of infants and toddlers are changed regularly and when required;
  • Creates schedules to ensure that children have adequate physical activity, rest, food and intellectual stimulation;
  • holds and rocks babies, feeds them bottles, provides babies with emotional support, physical comfort, and social interaction;
  • Organizes activities designed to help children learn about their world and develop their own interests;
  • Introduces babies, toddlers and small children to basic concepts like reading and sharing toys;
  • Works with children on language skills and creative activities like art, music and dance, by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts;
  • Keeps records of children’s routines throughout the day;
  • Completes required documentation of children’s development and interactions;
  • Watches for any signs of behavioral or emotional problems in children and alerts the management team to the problems;
  • Ensure that child care spaces are constantly cleaned and sanitized, focusing on frequently touched surfaces, equipment, toys, and any other areas or items deemed necessary;
  • Participates in outdoor activities with children;
  • Participates in school-based meetings;
  • Participates in all school events including open houses, parent meetings, and others;
  • Maintains open communication with co-workers and parents, management and acts appropriately in case of an emergency;
  • Participates actively and meaningfully in professional development opportunities and attend all mandatory training;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the management team;

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • College diploma Associate’s degree in early childhood development or a related field
  • Valid standard First Aid and level C CPR;
  • Up to date medical and immunization record, including Covid-19 immunization;

Professional Experience

  • 1 – 3 years of experience working in the childcare field

  • Ability to use physical effort, as she spends most of the day moving around the room interacting with and caring for children, she also has to lift and carry children, move tables and chairs, bend and pick-up toys, reach high shelves and sit on the floor to play games throughout the day;
  • Able to handle a high level of noise at times during the day;
  • Ability to deal with minor injuries or other accidents that may occur with young children;
  • Ability to assess situations and act quickly;
  • Acutely aware of hygiene routines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to gain trust and respect of children and their parents;
  • Understanding of family dynamics and sensitive to local culture and educational issues;
  • Excellent spoken and written Arabic and English skills;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Strong time management, prioritization, multitasking and organizational skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
