Economic Cooperation and Privat Sector Development Advisor – (Green Industry)

The “Green Action in Enterprises (GAIN)” project in Jordan is seeking an Economic Cooperation and Privat Sector Development Advisor – (Green Industry) for full-time base employment as per the below job profile.

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • At least 5 years of experience with private sector engagement and sustainability standards      
  • University degree in economics, political science, business administration, environmental engineering, energy engineering or any related field      
  • Previous experience working with the private sector in implementation development initiatives, experience in green and/or circular economy is an asset
  • Proven in-depth knowledge and experience in local private sector development and business development, knowledge in green and/or circular economy is an asset      
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in multi-stakeholder management and capacity building of private sector actors      
  • Experience in working in international development cooperation projects is an asset     

Main activities

  • Provide technical support identifying gaps for industrial companies in Jordan and support the development and implementation of green business cases      
  • Leading the coordination and the flow of communication across different stakeholders and public/private sector actors as needed      
  • Conducting regular field visits and supporting consultants in their missions with private sector actors      
  • Supporting project and component manager in streghthening existing private sector partnerships and building up new ones      
  • Supporting in the design of a holistic database consisting of relevant stakeholders as well as data management systems and M&E activities      
  • Support project management in carrying out project activities and report on related progress      

Core tasks

In your role you are responsible for the technical, substantive and organisational implementation of a project’s measures and activities. In consultation with your line manager, you also assume tasks related to planning, steering and monitoring the project, including project administration tasks in some cases. You are also responsible for providing specialist support to colleagues in bands 2 and 3, and ensure the quality of the commission’s outcomes.

In addition you contribute to the conceptual design of the project, in particular its modification or realignment.

You make technical and substantive contributions to overarching issues in cooperation with commissioning parties/clients, partners and other actors and thereby support the achievement of the agreed objectives of the respective project and provide impetus for further strategy development.

In coordination with the country director and your line manager, you also use your contacts for the acquisition of contracts on behalf of the company.

In consultation with your team colleagues and line manager, you also coordinate all issues within your area of work and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and competently. You resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.

You are involved in ongoing process development within your remit, are responsible for knowledge management and prepare and share documentation. If required, you also support other experts in familiarising themselves with and performing their tasks.

You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.
