Program Officer

SOP

Every employee of IRI is responsible for carrying out the mission of IRI and demonstrating the core values in their day-to-day operations. All staff members are expected to take initiative and work diligently to contribute to building and managing IRI resources, supporting and expanding IRI’s brand and reputation, and contributing to a collaborative, innovative, respectful culture across the Institute.

The Scope of Work set forth is subject to change at any time at IRI’s discretion and the Employee’s consent. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive nor is it intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties or skills required of an incumbent. IRI may ask the Employee to perform, and the Employee must perform additional and/or duties that are reasonable, and that do not violate any other provision of this Agreement or relevant Jordanian or U.S. laws.

Domestic travel, occasionally overnight, outside of Amman is expected of the Employee. The Employee confirms that they are amenable to such travel, the specifics of which will be determined by IRI and with the Employee’s consent

Position Description

.The Program Officer (PO) is responsible for implementing elements of IRI’s grant-funded program(s). S/he is responsible for planning and implementing activities within assigned elements of the program. S/he monitors funder-required indicators, project documentation, and budgets. S/he closely monitors and analyzes political and economic developments in Jordan. S/he also develops and maintains working relationships with stakeholders, beneficiaries, and contractors related to his/her portfolio.

Duties

Program and Financial Management

  • Track work plans to meet program objectives, with oversight and direction from the Project Manager (PM) and expatriate management team.
  • Backstop program activities, including but not limited to maintaining activity timelines, ensuring meeting documentation and activity reports are sufficient, materials are provided in a timely manner to stakeholders, and activities stay within budgetary requirements.
  • Mobilize program participants, the media, and stakeholders for events and program activities.
  • Contribute to activity budgeting and spending forecasts.
  • Contribute to relevant procurement tools and resulting contracts and sub-awards.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

  • Maintain records of program results as per relevant monitoring and evaluation guidance.
  • Implement program monitoring and evaluation plans with direction from the management team and PM.
  • Participate in regular sessions with program teams on collaborative learning and adaptive management.
