Field Coordinator

Every employee of IRI is responsible for carrying out the mission of IRI and demonstrating the core values in their day-to-day operations. All staff members are expected to take initiative and work diligently to contribute to building and managing IRI resources, supporting and expanding IRI’s brand and reputation, and contributing to a collaborative, innovative, respectful culture across the Institute.

The Scope of Work set forth is subject to change at any time at IRI’s discretion and the Employee’s consent. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive nor is it intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties or skills required of an incumbent. IRI may ask the Employee to perform, and the Employee must perform additional and/or duties that are reasonable, and that do not violate any other provision of this Agreement or relevant Jordanian or U.S. laws.

Domestic travel, occasionally overnight, to areas within assigned governorates will be expected of the Employee. The Employee confirms that they are amenable to such travel, the specifics of which will be determined by IRI and with the Employee’s consent.

Position Description

Under the general direction of the Project Manager (PM), the Field Coordinator (FC) shall provide support to the overall planning and implementation of the IRI activities in designated governorates, including the provision of administrative and operational support services required for the efficient delivery of IRI activities in the field. S/he acts as the primary point of contact with the partner governorates as assigned. This includes supporting Amman-based staff in the coordination of training and implementation activities, as well as facilitating relationships with municipal offices and volunteers in the field. The Field Coordinator is the direct contact for partners in the field and is expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civil society organizations, citizen groups, and municipal offices in IRI’s areas of operation. They should also maintain up-to-date knowledge of the development issues within their governorates and will be expected to provide weekly updates on relevant happenings and local news.

Duties

Program Coordination

  • Organize logistics for program activities, including but not limited to meetings, workshops, public events and seminars as directed by their manager.
  • Monitor the implementation of partner-led activities, providing prompt details and reports including communication of challenges to Amman-based colleagues.
  • When requested, travel to IRI activities outside of home city.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Maintain records of program activities based on direction from IRI’s M&E staff, including but not limited to stakeholder contact information, key issues discussed, and decisions made. Event and consultation reports are to be submitted to their manager and M&E staff based on established internal deadlines.
  • Provides feedback with Amman-based staff to maintain and improve the effectiveness of relationships and program implementation, including contributing to weekly, quarterly, and final reports.

Relationship Management and Outreach

  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with key IRI program stakeholders and influencers as directed by their manager in assigned governorates.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with local stakeholders and represent IRI projects in the field as required.
  • Provide news and political updates relevant to IRI’s program; stay abreast of developments within assigned governorates.

Administration

  • On a weekly basis (at a minimum) provide their manager with a written program status update, highlighting issues that need attention.
