ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
ABOUT SUPPLY CHAIN DIVISION
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Supply Chain Division (SCO), with over 5000 trucks, 50 ships and close to 100 planes on the move every single day in over 120 countries and territories, together with its partners, operates a global network to deliver life-saving food assistance to the most hard-to reach places.
The mission of WFP is to end global hunger. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
In emergencies, WFP gets food to where it is needed, saving the lives of victims of war, civil conflict and natural disasters. After an emergency, WFP uses food to help communities rebuild their shattered lives. The organization has the global footprint, deep field presence and local knowledge and relationships necessary to provide access to nutritious food and contribute to the lasting solutions, especially in many of the world’s most remote and fragile areas.
Supply chain management is at the core of WFP’s humanitarian response and therefore an area of constant strategic focus. The Supply Chain Food Safety and Quality unit (SCOQ) implements WFP’s Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) management system which relies on independent verification of food and suppliers for purchased food and uses data collected through these business processes to assess and manage risks to beneficiaries. Over the last two years, an online platform has been implemented globally in WFP, managing process workflows and data collection for core FSQ processes. This platform continues to have a significant roadmap of development to deliver more value to WFP’s Supply Chain. Additionally, SCOQ needs to leverage opportunities for further digital transformation of business processes to support international, regional and local teams. • Support preparation of other strategic and operational analyses as necessary.
• Support the overall development and application of FSQ analysis tools and methodologies to ensure long term sustainability the unit’s analytical capabilities.
• Work collaboratively with SCOQ and Procurement stakeholders to understand the quality and integrity of data collected by digital tools across FSQ processes, and support initiatives to identify and rectify errors.
• Collaborate with Regional Bureaus and Country Offices to understand their context-specific analysis needs and support them to gain the insight required to work effectively in their areas by providing tools and analysis as required.
• Work with the Digital Products team within SCOQ to define and agree an implementation roadmap for analyses and analytical tools, to ensure initiatives are prioritized effectively and delivered in a timely fashion.
