The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Every day 5,600 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road; 100 planes are in the air and 30 ships are at sea.
Work as hard as we might, through drought and floods, conflict and peace, disasters natural or man-made, the needs are immense and growing. 828 million people in the world do not have enough food to eat. To get to a world with Zero Hunger faster, WFP has significantly increased resources in recent years from donor governments. We are now investing in and growing private sector fundraising (PPF) to reach more people.
The Private Partnerships & Fundraising Division (PPF) is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector. PPF has developed an ambitious five-year strategy and our ambition is based on need. WFP’s private sector strategy (2020 – 2025) proposes to dramatically increase income from individuals to help reach more people and get to Zero Hunger faster, using new digital engagement tools to reach audiences across the globe in a flexible and cost-effective way.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
WFP SEO and WFP PPF are looking for an Individual Giving (IG) Fundraising Officer who can support and drive forwards the coordination, set up, launch and project management of an IG programme in the Republic of Korea. This new programme would replicate WFP’s global digital first IG strategy that has been developed over the last three years, but localised to maximise returns and opportunities in Korea – including across channels, audiences and payments. Initial testing will focus on digital and DRTV and cover single giving and regular giving acquisition and retention, as well as marketing WFP’s award winning donation application Sharethemeal.
The successful candidate would be responsible for onboarding new agencies, management and coordination of all launch activities, including translation, under the strategic direction of the WFP PPF & WFP SEO teams. As well as supporting locally from a tech and CRM perspective, to ensure a seamless donor experience from point of acquisition, initial payment and into the supporter journey.
This position will report to WFP SEO, with a technical reporting line into the WFP PPF Individual Fundraising (IF) Team in HQ.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Launch phase
1. Coordination of activities that ensures WFP launches a localized IG fundraising programme in the Republic of Korea by the end of Q3 2023 – initially focusing on digital and DRTV acquisition channels and including all individual giving and sharethemeal products
2. Support WFP PPF & SEO in developing all relevant platforms, payment gateways, CRM and tax receipting processes, ensuring local data privacy regulations are considered and all relevant data captured
3. Alongside Global IG colleagues, develop initial acquisition test plans and process maps from paid media platforms through to WFP’s donation platforms and CRM
4. Adapt existing global donor journeys to ensure relevance for Republic of Korea donors across language, content and channels
Planning
1. Ongoing review of all available market data to help inform and develop overall fundraising strategy
2. Working alongside SEO and Global IF colleagues, coordinate annual review, planning and budgeting processes
Project Management
1. Act as the focal point for IF project development and management, ensuring all components of each activity are covered – including supplier management, media buying, creative and content development, translation, journey development, supporter experience and reporting
2.Oversee local procurement processes to secure additional individual fundraising services as required
3. Ensure effective management of annual tax receipting processes so that donors' gifts are tax deductible, receipts available and regulatory requirements covered
4. Work with Global IF and SEO Communication colleagues to ensure owned media are continuously optimized for SEO
5. Develop robust testing plans and analysis across channels, media, creative and audience
6. Ensure all paid media activities and donor facing communications are aligned with WFP SEO wider Communications, Advocacy and Marketing
7. Develop and deliver training packages for all relevant suppliers, including to inbound and outbound telemarketing agencies within the Republic of Korea and at the WFP Global Supporter Experience Agency
Fundraising Coordination
1. Act as a point of coordination within SEO, ensuring that all stakeholders are involved in a timely manner in individual fundraising projects
2. Ensure that any relevant media awareness and coverage is conveyed to all individual fundraising internal and external stakeholders within SEO and globally
3. Be the voice of individual fundraising when any media moments are planned and created by SEO and ensure, when relevant, fundraising objectives are included
4. Ensure that SEO colleagues are updated on progress and performance of individual fundraising activity through the delivery of weekly, quarterly and annual performance reports
5. Liaise with other UN agencies and NGOs based in Seoul as required
Results and analysis
1. Alongside the Head of International Fundraising Solutions, review daily, weekly and monthly DRTV performance reports and work with agencies to optimize performance
2. Alongside the Individual Giving Acquisition Manager, review daily, weekly and monthly digital media performance reports and work with agencies to optimize performance
3. In collaboration with Global IG, Share the Meal and BI Hub teams, track and analyze the performance of Republic of Korea donors and make recommendations to improve the KPIs that drive long term profitability
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or other relevant fields
Experience
Essential
- At least five years of professional experience in Individual Giving/Fundraising, Marketing, Direct Marketing or Sales in the non-profit or commercial sector
- Two years of end to end project management of fundraising or marketing campaigns
- Two years of experience using a Customer Relationship Management tool for the acquisition and retention of customers or donors
Desirable
- Experience of working for United Nations or Humanitarian organisations
- Experience working for, or with, marketing and paid media agencies
- DRTV and/or digital campaign management experience
Languages
Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, Korean
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Working knowledge of the marketing/fundraising campaign processes including supporting TECH stack solutions – CRM, payment gateways & landing pages
- Analytical and data driven approach, able to interpret data to optimise fundraising or marketing campaigns
- Ability to develop compelling, audience-focused content, using in-house or agency creative teams
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Organised and self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting, and the ability to manage multiple, concurrent priorities on tight deadlines
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and adaptable to change and available to work out of hours when required
Desirable
- Working knowledge of media agency management
- Use of project management tools such as Asana
