BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. WFP has 23,000 dedicated employees globally, with the majority working in field. Internal Communications and Engagement unit (CAMI) of the Communications, Advocacy & Marketing Division (CAM) plays a key role in empowering employees to deliver on and support the organization’s mission to achieve Zero Hunger.
We are currently seeking a consultant, who, under the supervision of the Head of Internal Communications & Engagement of CAM, will be responsible for planning and producing key internal events and campaigns, managing communications around them, with an aim to maximize employee engagement to align with corporate priorities and keep employees informed and motivated.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for developing, producing and running CAMI-led all-employee events (in person and virtual) and campaigns, in collaboration with senior management and relevant clients including the Office of Executive Director.
- Produce and deliver events/campaigns communications.
- Responsible for maintaining and developing internal client relationships.
- Ensure excellent client and partner experience in the form of flawless events/campaigns.
- Develop/manage CAMI-led staff engagement projects, initiatives.
- Provide guidance in events/campaigns organized by other Divisions/Offices, when required.
- Manage/facilitate employee engagement on internal social media (Yammer Global Channel)
- Other related duties as required.
DELIVERABLES:
- Internal event/campaign strategy/plan developed
- Content strategy/plan for internal social media Yammer developed
- Successful delivery of all-employee events/campaigns
- Successful delivery of CAMI project
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Communications, International Relations, Public Relations or other related fields.
Experience: At least four years of post-graduate relevant professional experience in event/campaign management, ideally with humanitarian and development agencies – either UN or international NGOs.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Event/campaign production skills.
- Excellent partnership, networking, outreach skills.
- An ability to understand internal clients’ needs.
- Be able to independently manage projects whilst ensuring all key stakeholders are kept appropriately looped in.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of events/campaigns.
- An ability to develop content and a sound understanding of social channels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with people in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Innovative, well organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work in a team and to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of MS Office365 platforms.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of English (level C) is required. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus.
