Public Relations Specialist / Liaison Officer
The “Management of planning and construction of a training center for Service dog handlers and service dogs” project in Jordan is seeking a “Public Relations Specialist / Liaison Officer” for full-time base employment as per the below job profile
Qualifications and specialist knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, political science, literature, social science, international cooperation, or other relevant field of study
- Min. 5 years of professional relevant experience
- Professional experience in international cooperation is an advantage
- Language skills: Very good knowledge of English and Arabic languages, both written and spoken; Good knowledge of the German language, both written and spoken would be an advantage
- Good knowledge of Word processing (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic communication tools (Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills
- High degree of personal responsibility, diligence and reliability
- High degree of flexibility, ability to work under pressure, accuracy and ability to work in a team
- High ability to work independent and self-organized
- Intercultural competence and communication skills
- Interest in political, economic and cultural issues
- Have driving license
- Personal security check/non-criminal records certificate and reference checks will be requested for the selected candidate
Main activities
- Close involvement, support, and participation in the project realization of the K9 -Unit Training Center (K9-U TC)
- Cooperation, communication, and exchange of information with the liaison officer of the German Federal Police (Amman) and relevant partners and agencies on site but also with GIZ HQ, Section Construction in IC (G230), and the Federal Police in Germany
- Support in target-oriented information and knowledge acquisition
- Assistance with the technical and factual evaluation of open and non-public sources of information
- Preform general administrative work as well as office organization.
- Receipt and initial processing of incoming e-mails, faxes, paper mail and telephone calls
- Translation Arabic / English (German / Arabic would be an advantage) of incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Keeping records of transactions (diary) and filing
- Monitoring of deadlines, dates and resubmissions
- Accounting for operating resources / operating resource reports
- Preparation of standardized report and notification contents
- Planning, preparation and follow-up of training sessions, meetings, conventions and conferences
- Technical and linguistic support in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of meetings / delegation visits / business trips
- Conduct field visits and accompany the national/international delegations in country and abroad as required.
Core tasks
You work on all job orders within your remit and are the main contact for advising managers and other staff members on all issues in the thematic area. You are also responsible for providing specialist support to colleagues in bands 2 and 3 and ensuring the quality of the commission’s outcomes.
You clearly communicate the relevant requirements, conditions, and restrictions in terms of your capacity to act.
You coordinate the process for awarding contracts, work on tasks in accordance with the relevant legal, contractual, socio-political, and corporate policy requirements and monitor the processing and fulfillment of those contracts.
You are involved in the further development of instruments and help to ensure that innovations and changes are incorporated into them.
In consultation with your team colleagues and line manager, you also coordinate all issues within your area of work and ensure that they are dealt with promptly and competently. You resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.
You are involved in ongoing process development within your remit, are responsible for knowledge management, and prepare and share documentation.
You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.
About the project
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is commissioned by the German Federal Police with the project: Management of planning and construction of a training center for service dog handlers and service dogs (K9-Unit Training Center / K9-U TC) in Amman, Jordan.
The intention is to build a completely new infrastructure on the property of the Royal Police Academy (RPA) in Amman to house and train the service dog handlers, and the service dogs and to provide working space for other necessary personnel.
For the implementation of the (Management of planning and construction of a training center for service dog handlers and service dogs in Amman, Jordan (K9-U TC) project, GIZ is looking for someone to support and coordinate between GIZ Head Quarter (HQ) in Germany, the German Federal Police Head Quarter (HQ) and its Liaison Officer in Amman at the German Embassy and related local partners.
The position holder will be located at the GIZ Jordan-Amman offices.
