USAID Funded Jordan Nutrition Innovation Lab (JNIL) is looking to hire a “Research Project Coordinator”
The aim of Jordan Nutrition Innovation Lab (JNIL) is to generate evidence for policy action, conduct rigorous evaluation research of the impact of MIYCN programming, and build academic capacity to support optimal health and nutritional status of pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under two in Jordan
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include working collaboratively within a dynamic team environment, and actively contributing to both project objectives detailed under the background section. Among other responsibilities, the research coordinator manages the data collection exercise through rigorous monitoring, follow-up, and reporting throughout the cycle of the project. The research coordinator also plays a key role in planning and implementing capacity-building events such as the scientific symposia and research designs and methods workshop.
The Minimum Required Experience, Education, Background and Certifications/Licenses: • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of experience working in quantitative and qualitative research or monitoring and evaluation, or a postgraduate degree in nutrition, public health, or development studies. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. • Proven record of completing assigned tasks without direct supervision. • Strong sense of accountability in meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work. • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure. • High level of integrity in all aspects of work and willingness to take ownership of tasks. • Ability to explain and communicate complex concepts to different target audiences. • Excellent time management and problem-solving capabilities. • Experience in managing other people. • Ability and a proven track record in establishing external networks. • Excellent computer skills, namely, MS Word, PPT, and Excel.
Additional Preferred Experience & Education: • Advanced degree and experience in education or non-profit setting preferred.
Essential functions:
I. Lead Quantitative and Qualitative Research Field Operations and Reporting
Research Process Involvement
• Develop clear and accurate research action plans that include tasks and timelines for each research activity i.e., quantitative, and qualitative data collection. • Develop and share training, pilot, and regular data collection progress reports with the team. • Translate data collection tools, transcripts, and other documents as needed from Arabic to English and vice versa. • Review data collection processes regularly, perform quality assessments, and adjust as needed. • Conduct regular field visits to data collection sites to provide technical assistance and ensure proper implementation of protocols. • Conduct logistical planning for quantitative and qualitative data collection exercises; this includes selecting a venue for training and ensuring all locations where data is being collected are informed and approve the presence of data collectors on their premises. • Document key processes, events, trainings, supervision, and meetings during the course of research activities
IRB Lead the local Institutional Review Board (IRB) Ethical approval process including liaising with the Ministry of Health IRB, preparing all required documents, formal letters, and application form.
Analysis and Writing • Work with Tufts team in the analysis and writing of research reports and publications including developing figures and graphs, writing and formatting reports and publications. • Developing slide decks of research outputs as requested
Management Communications • Provide regular updates to the team on research-related activities, challenges, and lessons learned through weekly operational, technical, and planning meetings. • Act as the main point of contact between Mindset and the Tufts team in Boston in close coordination with JNIL’s Country Coordinator
Equipment • Conduct regular monitoring of study supplies and equipment and initiate procurement requests as needed.
Technology • Oversee the scripting/programming of quantitative survey into tablets through rigorous and continuous testing and feedback.
II. Support to Country Team
Capacity-Building Activities • Support the planning and implementation of symposium • Support in the planning and implementation of the research methods and designs workshop • Assist with the collection and tracking of data as driven by the indicators identified by USAID. • Participate in meetings associated with capacity-building activities as needed.
Writing • Play an integral role in writing USAID-required reports, MEL reports and Presentations
Budget • Work closely with the Country Coordinator in tracking research-related expenditures • Understand and adhere to budget limitations in the areas of research activities including staff training.
