REPORT TO (Job Title): HQ Staff Counsellor
Duration: 11 months
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Provide psychological care/family services for staff and dependents at WFP
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Psychology Clinic Counsellor will be responsible for performing the following duties:
- Provide psychological services for staff and dependents at WFP either in person or via telehealth modalities;
- Advice on referrals to specialists when required;
- Not refer patients to himself/herself outside WFP;
- Open the services of the WFP Psychology Walk-in Clinic to those staff and dependents who were being seen by himself/herself outside WFP;
- Provide services outside working hours on an emergency basis on his/her account;
- Keep all information strictly confidential within the ethical framework of the profession and, in particular, from the employer. Information can be disclosed only with the written consent of the patient;
- Keep appropriate records as professionally required and for purposes of reimbursement by the health insurance;
- Be properly insured against malpractice and third parties professional risks;
- Perform other related duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Advanced university degree (Doctorate, Masters or equivalent) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, or demonstrably equivalent studies from a recognized institution. The candidate must hold active licensure/registration as a mental health professional with a recognized governing association and be a member of that organization in good standing. Additional training or certification in a broad range of related fields, such as alcohol/substance abuse, resilience, cross-cultural communication, conflict resolution, mediation, trauma etc. will be an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible professional post graduate experience relevant to the field is required. Experience working for a United Nations Organization or Humanitarian NGO is an asset. Proven competencies and experience in the provision of either family therapy, child therapy and couples therapy is an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
Computer literacy in the use of office applications and medical recording databases. Courtesy, tact and discretion, ensuring strict confidentiality in the handling of all information both verbal and written. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Established contacts with relevant medical practitioners and strong specialist referral list.
Languages:
Working knowledge (level C) of English, Italian (required), French, Arabic and Spanish (desirable).
