What will you do?
Under the direct supervision of Programme Officer, and overall supervision of the Head of Field Office, the Programme Associate is responsible for the following duties:
Explore and engage with the CPs, partners, and communities to get opportunities for appropriate resilience and livelihood projects that positively impact the targeted community and present it as a proposal for the office and technical team for future resource opportunities.
Explore suitable climate change adaptation projects that can restore the livelihood of the affected population by droughts or disasters and present as well for resources opportunities.
Coordinate with the implementing partner and actively monitor progress and performance, ensuring that project deadlines and targets are met.
Provide supervision and support for the Training of Trainers (ToT) and on-farm training on the stages of post-harvest loss (PHL) reduction and access to markets, using both demonstrative and classroom-based teaching methods.
Review social and behaviour change messages for broadcast using various communication channels
Engage with target smallholder farmers, producer groups, and agro-dealers regularly to ensure smooth communications and to anticipate challenges
Foster relationships and communications with relevant stakeholders, such as other operating partners, coordination mechanisms, government, and community members.
Coordinate and liaise with internal counterparts on a range of complex matters to enable effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
Ensure accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work and consistency of information presented to stakeholders
Provide specialized project management support to ensure that technical support is provided or resourced following WFP’s policies and procedures
Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within a specific technical area.
Do you meet the Minimum Qualification
Education: University degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, Market Information Systems, Environmental Engineering, Food Systems, or another field relevant to international development assistance, or Secondary Degree with additional years of related work ex-experience and/or pieces of training/courses.
Experience: 6 years and above of progressively responsible work experience in programme functions.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to work independently on analytical and technical matters with minimum supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver timely high-quality deliverables.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Negotiation Skills.
- Critical Thinking i.e. ability to analyze situations and make decisions based on on-hand information.
- Strong analytical and report writing skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, etc.)
- Training/Capacity Strengthening skills.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somalia.

To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.
