BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Hunger Monitoring Unit (RAMH) in WFP’s Research Assessment and Monitoring Division manages WFP’s global hunger monitoring systems. This entails the establishment and oversight of WFP’s near real-time food security monitoring systems in dozens of countries, as well as developing and refining advanced analytical approaches for nowcasting and forecasting food security indicators using predictive analytics in collaboration with internal and external partners to general timely information on global food security situation. Data from these systems flows into the HungerMapLIVE (hungermap.wfp.org) and is also published through Global and Regional Insights and Key Trends reports and other related resources, providing the evidence-based to more effectively addressing hunger in all its forms.
RAMH seeks a Partnerships Officer to: i) lead and coordinate resource mobilization activities for the unit; ii) oversee the production and dissemination of internal and external reports and briefs; iii) oversee external partnerships and outreach activities; and iv) coordinate the strategic dissemination of key products and messaging in line with the Unit’s communication’s strategy.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, manage and grow a defined portfolio of high-value, high-impact multi-year partnerships and donor commitments.
- Create and implement plans to maximize partnerships; manage renewals, proactively seek opportunities for growth, provide ongoing stewardship, and assess results in order to maximize resources for RAMH;
- Collaborate across technical teams and other WFP technical units (especially PPF and PPR) to identify funding opportunities, and develop value propositions to increase support from partners;
- Create compelling presentations and proposals — including grant applications, and reports;
- Build and maintain positive relationships with private sector and donor counterparts;
- Drive the development and implementation of internal and external communications plans to ensure optimal partnership visibility, in coordination with WFP communications colleagues;
- Liaise with in-house services to ensure proper fund management and fulfilment of contractual obligations and ensure timely and accurate reporting, as well as tracking and accurate record-keeping in Salesforce and SharePoint;
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Grant applications and donor reports are produced and submitted as required
- Briefs and reports written and disseminated
- Weekly blurbs written and disseminated
- Key products are regularly updated and distributed
- External partnerships established and maintained
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Advanced University Degree in international relations, social sciences or a field relevant to international development.
Experience:
5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in international development, resource mobilization, donor relations, and partnership building required. Work experience in an international development context is strongly desired.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Experience in writing proposals and donor reports
- Experience in producing advocacy and outreach materials
- Experience in writing briefs and reports for senior management
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)
Languages:
Excellent spoken and written English is required; excellent spoken and written French is strongly desired.
