Junior Economic Cooperation and Privat Sector Development Advisor- North Area
The “Entrepreneurship for Development and Employment (E4DE)” project in Jordan is seeking a “Junior Economic Cooperation and Privat Sector Development Advisor- North Area (Mafraq)” for full-time base employment as per the below job profile.
Qualifications and specialist knowledge
- Proven knowledge and experience in multi-stakeholder management in a support function (minimum 3 years)
- Proven knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship, value chains and business development in a support function (minimum 3 years’ experience).
- Proven knowledge and experience in provision of services in cooperation with the private sector e.g. in mentorship in a support function (minimum 3 years’ experience).
- Working experience in the entrepreneurship landscape in Jordan
- Working experience with other donor organisations in Jordan is an asset
- Established networks in the North with stakeholders of entrepreneurships, start-ups and private sector companies are an asset
- Proven knowledge and experience in organisational development, including developing capacities of partner institutions in a support function (minimum 3 years’ experience).
- Experience in working in international development cooperation projects is an asset
- Very good knowledge of information technology and computer applications (teams, words, outlook, excel, etc.)
- Very good knowledge of English is required, knowledge of German is an asset
- Knowledge of project management is required
- Very good networking and communication skills are required
- Very good knowledge management, documentation, presentation, research and organisational skills are required
- Cooperation and team spirit is required
Main activities
- Support the Project Manager and the technical colleague responsible for the output in the North the Output/Field of Activity 2 and 3 (FoA2 &FoA3) : “Governorate Ecosystems for Entrepreneurship Promotion” and “Entrepreneurship Promotion” with:
- Advisory services to partner institutions in regard to planning and implementation of interventions in Output 2 and 3, especially in Jerash and Mafraq
- Steering and implementation of specific support measures in the selected pilot governorates Jerash and Mafraq
- provision of organisational advice on establishing and strengthening local and regional networks to support entrepreneurship (e.g. regional support networks, industry clusters etc.) to partner institutions in the selected piloted governorate
- Strengthening relationships between different stakeholders in the selected piloted governorate through continuous update of the progress of the project activities and reflection of partners’ needs in the implementation process.
- Establishing and strengthening cooperation between private sector companies and start-ups in Jerash and Mafraq
- Development and implementation of services (e.g. mentoring) for start-ups with private sector companies in Jerash and Mafraq
- Cooperation and synergies within E4DE team, with other GIZ implemented projects and with other donors in the field of entrepreneurship
- Capacity Development of the project stakeholders
- Development, management and monitoring of local contracts and grant agreements
- Monitoring and impact assessment of all activities; support the process of monitoring activities of the Output 2/3 (FoA2/FoA3) and coordination with M&E Specialist.
- As follows the junior advisor does field visits to the North and provides input and expertise as requested for preparation and implementation of contracts and grant agreements, organizational and logistical support for events, preparation of presentations and knowledge products, knowledge management within the output on internal knowledge management platforms, monitoring and evaluating achievement of output indicators, documentation of workshops and meetings, research, development of databases etc.
Core tasks
In your role you support the officer responsible for the commission in implementing the technical, content-related and organisational aspects of the commission. In consultation with your line manager, you collaborate on planning and steering tasks and on monitoring the activities and measures. You also respond promptly and competently to matters that fall within your assigned thematic area, where applicable in consultation with experienced specialists, and following consultation remain available to answer further enquiries.
You may be assigned individual tasks in connection with project administration and project implementation. You participate in the conceptual design of the project, in particular in the modification or realignment of the project. You provide technical and substantive contributions to overarching issues in cooperation with commissioning parties/clients, partners and other actors, and thereby support strategy development.
In coordination with the country director and your line manager, you also use your contacts for the acquisition of job orders on behalf of the company. Working with experienced specialists, you resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.
You clearly communicate the relevant requirements, conditions and restrictions in terms of your capacity to act with due regard for compliance rules and P+R. You deal with the matters and job orders assigned to you with due regard for all the legal, contractual, socio-political and corporate policy requirements and the instructions of your line manager and follow up the processing and completion of those tasks.
Working with experienced specialists, you resolve problems that arise in your area of responsibility on the basis of existing rules and draw attention to more complex challenges in your team.
In addition, you deal with all associated matters in your thematic area promptly and competently.
You provide support for knowledge management and ongoing process development in your area of responsibility. You also prepare and share documentation.
You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.
