WHO ARE WE

WFP’s emergency response in Yemen is one of the agency’s largest anywhere in the world, providing lifesaving food assistance to more than 13 million people in need. WFP also provides nutrition support to more than 3 million children and women, and delivers school meals to 2 million schoolchildren.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This job is found in WFP Yemen based home and generally report to the Head of Unit or designate.
JOB PURPOSE
The Yemen Country Office Project Delivery Unit (YCOPDU) is part of the Representative’s Office. It
encompasses External Affairs, Partnerships, Operations, Program and Communications functions and
takes forward the key themes of;
• Strategic partnerships and communications
• Innovative solutions for better outcomes, and
• Other initiatives that leadership deems “mission critical”.
The YCOPDU operates across units within WFP, and works with donors, partners, and community
members on a range of issues to ensure a shared understanding of goals and a shared commitment
to action. The YCOPDU proactively seeks to achieve impact and improve outcomes by identifying
gaps and solving problems in a dedicated and focused way. It provides information and other support
to the Representative and Deputies to strengthen capabilities, reinforce priorities, enable effective
decision making and translate their vision into concrete results.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Recommend strategy based on community-focused research and analysis on programme and techniques to engage affected populations;
- Design strategic roadmaps for multistakeholder interventions, provided analysis and recommendations;
- Design and lead research and prepare reports using qualitative and quantitative data with thematic focus on the impacts of food security on communities;
- Prepare narratives on Yemen to engage multiple stakeholders and facilitate collaboration between WFP and partners;
- Develop a donor strategic plan to address long-term funding requirement of the Yemen operations;
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES – PART 2
- Collate data and prepare innovative documents to stakeholders on overall resources and operations;
- Design a work plan that will enable the office to identify, develop and strengthen quality partnerships;
- Facilitate corporate dialogue with partners through preparation of quality briefing materials;
- proactively highlight strategic opportunities and issues to senior management;
- Prepare analysis and report on preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance; Monitor defined risks and make recommendations how to manage these effectively;
- Other as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced university degree in Political Science or related field.
Experience: Minimum eight years of professional relevant experience in a related field.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in English

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- This position is required for a period of consecutive 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to the operational needs and availability of funding in Yemen Country Office.
- Consultancy contracts will be subject to a mandatory break in service after a period of service of 11 continuous months.
