Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer in Amman, the driver main role is to support the logistics department with one or more technical aspects of its work (transportation, purchase, Government follow-up, monthly utility payments) while applying defined MdM procedures and rules.
The Driver will ensure day-to-day implementation, follow-up logistics tasks assigned to him by the line manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer, the driver is in charge of driving MdM vehicles and purchasing items according to MdM purchasing procedures
- Driving MdM vehicle
- Passenger safety and security of transported materials/equipment’s
- Maintenance of the vehicle
- Carrying out logistics activities under supervision of the Logistics Officer
- Purchasing items according to MdM purchasing procedures
- Remaining stand-by in the office in between movements
- Any other additional duties requested by his supervisor
TASKS DESCRIPTION:
1. Passenger safety and security of transported materials/equipment:
- Adapting his behavior and driving to assure passengers' security, MDM equipment and the rest of road/street users (drivers, pedestrians, etc.).
- Always drive according to the Jordan circulation code and respecting speed limits
- Always wearing safety belt while driving and ensuring all passengers do the same
- Ensuring having a valid driving license and always have it ready for any eventual inspection
- Ensuring that all necessary documents are valid and renewed before the expiration date (yearly road safety check, registration of MdM drivers with the rental company, etc.)
2. Maintenance of the vehicle:
- Checking on a regular basis the vehicle's motor, oil level, breaks liquid, air pressure of wheels, wind shield liquid, etc.
- Alerting direct supervisor in case of technical problem or need for maintenance
- Organizing or if possible, carrying out of any necessary maintenance after validation of direct supervisor
- Ensuring the vehicle is clean on the inside and outside
- Ensuring all necessary equipment and material is present in the vehicle and in good condition (tools, spare wheel, airlift, belts, ropes, etc.)
- Refilling the fuel tank each time the tank reaches ¼ of its capacity
3. Purchasing
- To assist the log officer in purchasing of goods for the mission, upon instruction and following the MdM Purchasing procedures
- To assist the log officer in purchase goods ensuring the optimum price/quality ratio in the market
- To assist in Collecting quotations and checking prices for purchase of goods and services
- Can receive operational advances approved by the Logistics Officer. Operational advance will be given after having presented the supporting documents necessary (MR, invoice).
- Ensure settlement of operational advances on time and with the correct supporting documentation.
- Ensure that the suppliers fill in all receipts/invoices for local purchases correctly
- Upon request by the logistics officer carries out a market survey
- Ensure the delivery of all purchased items to the requester, collects the proof of delivery and proceeds to the validation of the invoices by the logistics officer
- Do not accept money, loans, credits, gifts, entertainment, or commissions from past, present or future suppliers.
5. Other duties/responsibilities
- Participate in internal work meetings and inform MdM team on logistics issues
- Report any security related issues to the supervisor
- Supporting operational organization of field trips and MdM programs/activities
- Driving MDM vehicles only upon request of the line manager, only to be used for work purposes
- Personally responsible for paying any fines or tickets received while driving MDM vehicle
Education and Experience
- High school degree
- Valid driving license Level (4).
- Minimum 2 years previous experience as a driver in an INGO
- Necessity to manage priorities and to adapt them according to the context.
- Flexibility to travel within the region

The Driver is expected to respect the confidentiality of the transported passengers and documents information which should remain within the MDM only and not shared within or outside MdM.
