The role of the Education Officer is to provide support to Team Leader in the implementation of activities under the Safe and Inclusive Schools (SIS) program. The Education Officer supports the Team Leader in organizing workshops and implementing Capacity building and capacity development activities to MoE personnel and community staff, and when required oversees activities in School Readiness Program. The Education Officer supports the Team Leader in setting up Safe and Inclusive School Groups along with mainstreaming NRC packages in Formal Schools namely: Better Learning Program, Learning support services and SIS program. The Education Officer will also support in the design of new training packages when needed and delegated. As assigned by the Team Leader the Education Officer will also implement NRC partnership with Formal Schools liaising with School personnel and following up the logistic aspects and data collection to implement workshops, capacity building trainings, events and activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Roles and Responsibilities

Generic responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Implement delegated Core Competency project portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop and implement activity schedules in alignment with the established plans.
  • Conduct daily visits to formal schools to monitor and follow up on SIS activities.
  • Facilitate meetings with Safe and Inclusive Schools Groups, including steering committees, to empower and enhance their roles.
  • Assist the TL in organizing and executing workshops and capacity development activities for both community staff and Ministry of Education (MoE) School Personnel (principals and teachers)
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on project activities and share them with the TL.
  • Delegate and prepare purchase requisition requests as assigned by the TL.
  • Compile distribution lists and generate donation certificates as necessary.
  • Provide support to community staff reporting to the Education Officer and effectively coordinate with other units.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of staff attendance and assist in the preparation and follow-up of purchase requisitions and monthly payments.
  • Ensure the collection, documentation, and sharing of activity-related data with relevant staff, ensuring its accuracy and integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • Relevant core competency implementation staff.
  • Support teams, Finance, HR, Admin and Logistics.
  • Communications staff

Scale and scope of position

Staff: 14 IBV+

(5 outreach, 2 Head of Outreach unit, 6 SIS activities facilitators, and 1 Head of SIS)

Stakeholders: MoE Personnel (schools principals and teachers)

QUALIFICATIONS

2. Competencies

Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organization to deliver desired results. They are relevant for all staff and are divided into the following two categories:

Generic professional competencies for this position:

  • Minimum 2 years of Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
  • Previous experience of working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Some knowledge of English.

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:

Qualification requirement: BA degree or equivalent in any disciplinary

Years of Experience: minimum 2 years

  • Experience working with adolescent and children- Experience in Child Protection and Psychosocial Support
  • Experience working with (I)NGO in humanitarian context, preferably education/youth.
