JOB PURPOSE
To collect, analyze and report on information to maximize efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure compliance with wider corporate accounting and WFP internal controls. Supervise, manage, and mentor staff by acting as a point of referral and providing them with the required training and capacity building at the field level including Corporate Partners’ storekeepers.
- Safeguard that the food commodities are received, stored, and handed over to the party receiving the food from WFP warehouse in conditions that are both transparent and supported by documentation with full inspection of the process of loading by the representative of receiving party.
- Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are properly functioning and that all relevant records are maintained
- Manage logistics operations including all logistics assets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of WFP cargoes. Ensure that all staff are adequately trained, cross trained and identify any additional training needs to achieve high quality working standards.
- Ensure data is timely captured in the corporate information system, analyze, translated, and shared with the management.
- Perform operational duties in dispatching, receiving, storing, inventory, issuing, and distributing, shipments and record keeping; determine stock items and stock levels; locate and order non-stock items and equipment parts.
- Prepare and expedite releases; inspect commodities received; handle freight claims, quantity shortages, breakage, duplicate shipments, and back orders; advise co-workers of procedures or methods of handling claims for damage, quantity shortages, duplicate shipments, back orders, returned goods, inventory shortages, and other stores procedures.
- Maintain and prepare the service providers’ information for reporting purposes and update their qualitative performance evaluation database, along with supporting documents and Perform quarterly Performance Evaluations and support complete and appropriate documentation.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Language: Fluent (level C) English and Arabic in both oral and written communication
Experience: One (1) year of professional work experience in Logistics (food Stock) for candidates completed master’s degree. Three (3) years of professional work experience in Logistics (food Stock) for candidates completed bachelor’s degree
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
• Experience coordinating service providers’ contract execution.
• Experience arranging supplier deliveries and the discharge of WFP vessels (rail, air, or sea).
• Experience in evaluating offers and writing proposals.
• Experience in report writing.

Demonstrates ability to collect market information and process and analyse proposals in line with WFP standard rules and regulations in order to deliver efficiently. |
Warehouse and Inventory Management |
Demonstrates ability to implement operational warehouse procedures and normative guidance in order to manage WFP’s warehouse, handle inventory effectively through corporate systems, and ensure loss mitigation. |
Technical Assistance and Coordination |
Demonstrates abilities to provide basic technical advice and maintain effective (inclusive, collaborative, unified) logistics coordination mechanisms with humanitarian partners and other relevant stakeholders. |
