NRC currently has more than 2,000 staff in the Middle East region assisting people displaced by conflict in Syria. As a leading humanitarian organization, we support displaced persons by implementing programs across the Shelter, Education, Food Security, Information Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sectors with strong protection and resilience focus integrated into our programs. In the Middle East, NRC has over 3000 staff dedicated to assisting people affected by the conflict in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Palestine. Its humanitarian interventions are based upon its programming expertise in the Core Competencies of Shelter, Education, Water and Sanitation Hygiene, and Food Security, along with Information Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) to forcibly displaced people. The Syrian Crisis is well into its eight-year, but the level and intensity of conflict in the country remain high. Humanitarian and protection need to continue to grow inside Syria because of the ongoing conflict and consequent complex emergency in which displacement is both massive and widespread.
The purpose of this position is to work in collaboration with the ICLA Information Management Officer to ensure that the programme information is recorded and analysed to improve programming, record interventions, donor reporting and incorporating lessons learned into future programmes. Projects in this area are delivered through remotely managed NRC staff.
Generic responsibilities:
-Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures;
-Assist with the implementation of the IM support function according to the plan of action;
-Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated;
-Responsible for organising and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards;
-Ensure proper archiving of all field information and filing of documents
-Promote and share ideas for improvement and innovation of the IM support function
Specific responsibilities
-Support the Information managenet Officer in providing quality control and oversight of the data that is being collected, and identifies and addresses errors in collection or input.
-Supports and contributes to the development of data management systems through documentation, implementation, and coordination of standardized information flows.
-Support the information management officer in designing the intake forms and data collection tools for the field.
-Follow-up and support the information management officerin ensuring the effective use of field feedback mechanism.
-Supports the analysis, reporting and visualization of program data needed for different reporting.
-Supports the information management officer in the formulation of the monitoring and evaluation matrix and plans to address indicator reporting requirements.
-Provides technical guidance on the design of data capture processes and supervises these processes to ensure implementation according to plans and agreed standards.
-Provides analysis of information and data to address indicator reporting requirements.
-Maintains the project specific portion of data capture, analysis, and warehousing platforms is well organized and accessible.
-Maintains project files, databases, and other archives documenting project progress.
-Maintain the library of Mobile Data Capture forms for common project cycle data capture activities; reference at any time.
-Support analysis, reporting and visualisation of data capture efforts;
-Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and other associated guidelines by protecting the safety and dignity of beneficiaries’ details.
-Ensure capacity building of project staff and daily workers and transfer key skills;
-Capture information, prepare and develop status reports as required by management
-Provide regular progress reports to the Information Management Officer.
Generic professional competencies for this position:
-Experience from working as an Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
-Experience of working in complex and volatile contexts;
-Knowledge and experience within a relevant Field;
-Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
-Fluency in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal;
Context-related skills, knowledge and experience:
-Minimum 1 year of experience of project implementation in humanitarian/recovery contexts;
-Bachelor's Degree or above in information systems management, business administration, computer science, or similar;
-Technical data management expertise including qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
-Advanced skills in Microsoft tools and specifically in Excel.
-Experience in data collection software like Kobo is a plus.
-Experience in data visualization software like Power Bi is plus.
-Experience with information management techniques and development.
-Knowledge of the context in Syria is desired;
-Ability to work independently in a result-oriented multi-tasking
