What will you do in this position?
WFP Ukraine office is scaling up food assistance through cash transfers and in-kind food distribution to the affected populations in Ukraine. In January-March 2023, WFP Ukraine served over 3 million people every month through cash transfers and in-kind food distribution. WFP works closely with various partner organizations on the ground to assess needs and provide assistance to the affected population.
In order to scale up its response, WFP Ukraine is hiring a Communications and Reporting Associate to be based in Odesa. Under the direct supervision of the Head of the field Office and with technical oversight from WFP Communication Unit in Kyiv, the communication and reporting associate will be responsible for following.
To support the creation of content and products aimed at enhancing WFP’s visibility and reputation, as well as the visibility of WFP donors, and support fundraising activities. To manage operational information and contribute to internal and external reports.

How can you make a difference?
In this position, you will have to:
1. Liaise with partners and relevant WFP units, to identify and evaluate communications opportunities, suggest ideas, and contribute to the production and delivery of stories, video and photo content that support the country communications strategy. Archive, organize and upload audiovisual content on the WFP multimedia hub for use by staff globally.
2. Support and/or coordinate media coverage of events and WFP activities, under guidance from and in coordination with the Country Office communications unit.
3. Monitor traditional and social media, and report relevant information to senior staff to inform the development and/or evaluation of communications activities and strategies.
4. Under guidance, prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of WFP's activities, as well as visibility for WFP's donors, ensuring consistency with corporate messages.
5. Support the management of operational information and updates, draft internal operational reports, and respond to information requests from the Country Office Operational Information Management unit, ensuring that information is accurate and organized.
6. Distribute and promote communications and branding guidelines for WFP staff to refer to when creating content and communications material or when communicating externally. Support and/or organize practical trainings to help build the capacity of field-based staff to contribute to communications.
7. Respond to specialized queries and requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries.
8. Maintain relationships with WFP's partners to ensure clarity and consistency of our public messages, support or monitor the implementation of WFP communications and branding requirements or guidelines, and identify opportunities to collaborate or integrate processes and activities.
9. Suggest or implement improvements to communications methods and practices, to contribute to a better flow of information about WFP's work to the media and stakeholders.
To join us in saving lives, changing lives, you will have for
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.
Experience: Five (05) or more years of progressively responsible work experience in communication, media, or another relevant field. A higher education degree may compensate for some of the required experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
⦁ Ability to provide short briefings and communications clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to engage effectively at field level with a wide range of actors including those in the international humanitarian community and governments.
⦁ Ability to work within a team setting and working well with other team members to realize a collective objective.
⦁ Experience supporting external and/or internal communications in an NGO, public organization, or private business.
⦁ Good understanding of social media platforms, and experience creating multimedia content for use on social media channels.
⦁ Experience supporting information management or reporting processes.
Language: Proficiency in English, Ukrainian languages, both in oral and written communication.
