We are seeking to fill the position of a Training and Staff Development Specialist. This is a remote contract with some travel required.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) is an emergency preparedness and response tool for WFP and the wider humanitarian community. The mandate of the UNHRD Network is to assist the population living in countries affected by natural disasters or complex emergencies, through a prepositioning of relief and survival items and their rapid mobilization to the affected countries, on behalf of UN humanitarian agencies, governments, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. UNHRD manages five (5) strategically located hub worldwide (Panama, Ghana, Italy, Malaysia, and UAE), and holds stockpiles of emergency relief items and support equipment, including WFP corporate response stocks, currently valued at USD50m.
JOB PURPOSE
UNHRD is undergoing a strategic shift and requires expertise for several projects related to training, staff development and furthering the UNHRD training service offer to the humanitarian community.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the supervision of the UNHRD Supply Chain Officer and the overall guidance of the UNHRD Network Coordinator, the incumbent will:
• Lead on the design, in collaboration with the Project Implementation team, of world class learning solutions in relation to delivering value-based partnerships and initiatives.
• Design and deliver scenario-based training for multi-partner projects
• Lead the design, planning and facilitation of UNHRD internal and external workshops
• As part of the UNHRD Training Service Offer, lead on the design, planning and facilitation of workshops and learning events within UNHRD training facilities as required.
• Map attainable professional development paths for UNHRD staff and implement in line with UNHRD’s staff development strategy. Devise and implement mechanisms to monitor existing and emerging learning cross-functional needs and operational requirements; adapt or identify new learning solutions that equip people with the skills required to meet current and future challenges.
• Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and workstream leads to develop learning solutions that respond to needs.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners, together with the workstream lead, to consolidate a comprehensive training catalogue.
• Liaise with partners (UN agencies, NGOs, Clusters) and other WFP training units for potential synergies in training and opportunities to collaborate
• Provide expert technical advice to managers and partners on learning solutions that can meet specific needs; partner with procurement and vendors to acquire, adapt and implement them internally Coordinate, in partnership with EME, the implementation of the Emergency Training Academy (EMTRAC) portfolio.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
University degree in any recognized subject area (e.g., International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Instructional Design)
Experience
• Minimum of 8 years learning and development experience, including leading on the design and delivery of participatory training courses (face to face, online and simulation exercises)
• Demonstrated experience in working across all phases of learning design and delivery
• Demonstrated experience in working with subject matter experts to build high quality learning solutions
• Experience in developing curricula focused on emergency preparedness and response is considered a distinct advantage
• Work experience in the UN System, NGOs or INGOs is desirable
Knowledge & Skills
• In-depth expertise and application of models of participatory learning design/adult learning theory; learning needs analysis methodologies, learning evaluation methods
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence internally with various stakeholders and subject matter experts across business functions, levels and geographical areas
• Ability to lead and coordinate the planning and implementation of a complex portfolio with competing deadlines, project management skills
• Strong creative problems solving skills; agile, flexible, and patient; ability to work with ambiguity, constructive approach to overcoming challenges and build consensus across diverse and global teams
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English is essential. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
