World Food Programme (WFP) is the biggest humanitarian agency that fights against hunger in the world, whose work is part of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the SDG 2-Zero Hunger. WFP provides emergency food assistance and works with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience in 80 countries. In Peru, WFP implements different projects and activities to advance in the fight against food and nutrition insecurity and therefore must have the best professionals in the areas of work that the country office requires; therefore, hiring a Human Resources Assistant is required.

JOB PURPOSE

To perform a range of HR tasks to support accurate implementation of WFP policies and procedures and facilitate the effective functioning of a client-focused and strategy-oriented HR services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. 1. Provide assistance on general HR queries and follow up actions, to ensure consistent and high-quality HR services are delivered to clients;
  2. 2. Provide guidance and on-the-job training to other staff, to support their development and increased knowledge of HR systems and procedures required to perform their duties;
  3. 3. Liaise with other internal units/offices on HR related matters, i.e. payroll, contracts, etc. and provide necessary information in order to enable timely HR services;
  4. 4. Extract and compile HR data on staff recruitment and selection, contractual conditions, entitlements, performance and training requirements, to support analysis and reporting needs;
  5. 5. Provide administrative support in various HR activities in the areas of work allocated by the professional officer including on boarding of new staff members in compliance with relevant processes and procedures;
  6. 6. Maintain confidential personnel records, HR databases and archives, to ensure data and files are accurately stored and updated in compliance with the established standards;

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Desirable a graduated from Administration, Psychology, Industrial Engineering;
  • A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable;
  • Intermediate knowledge of English language is desirable;

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Desirable experience conducting specific HR Services activities such as payroll administration, aspects of recruitment and interviews administration;
  • Has provided ad-hoc guidance to less experienced staff members;
  • Has provided briefing to new recruits as part of the onboarding process;
  • Desirable, gained experience working across a range of WFP or UN agencies contexts and with varying strategic priorities;

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

WFP Service Contract (SC) for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. The salary level in the United Nations National Scale for a Service Contract will be SB3=SC. Persons hired under SC are considered independent contractors and must provide fee receipts for payment of their services. The fees received by the holders of these contracts are not exempt from personal income tax and, therefore, it is the contractee's responsibility to settle before the national authorities the taxes levied on their professional fees, as well as the corresponding payment to the pensions of your choice. The WFP is an international organization, it does not act as a withholding agent.
