War Child Holland is looking for: Education Technology Officer/ Based in Amman, Jordan (National Contract)

Utilize your skills in education technology, learning solutions creation, management, and administration to foster a seamless, user-friendly learning experience for our community of learning

Background

WCH is an international NGO committed to creating a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. We work with and for children and young people and enable adults to bring about positive, lasting change in conflict-affected communities.

Our CWTL program, designed with and for children, provides innovative digital game-based learning solutions. We're collaborating with the Ministry of Education and other education actors in Jordan to bridge learning gaps and facilitate an enriching environment for students, teachers, and caregivers.

The CWTL team is looking for a motivated and creative Education Technology Officer to support the development and implementation of learning solutions.

Objective of the job

Under the direct supervision of CWTL project manager, the Education Technology Officer should be able to create E-Learning modules, administer the learning management system, coordinate inputs and feedback, and has a can-do attitude. The Education Technology Officer is responsible for building the technical competencies and capacities of education colleagues and school teachers implementing Can’t Wait to Learn and will collaborate with team members of the Jordan office, CWTL global team, external services and tech providers, and implementing parnters including the Ministry of Education in Jordan.

Key Responsibilities

CWTL’s Games and Learning Management System Administration

  • Administer the tablet-based games and learning management system (LMS), ensuring smooth operations. Tasks include managing enrollments, registration, user account setup, and generating user reports.
  • Oversee the Learning platforms, ensuring that all elements are functioning properly. This includes managing user accounts, monitoring course enrollments, tracking completions, and resolving technical issues.

Digital Content Creation

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce interactive e-learning modules using the Evolve authoring tool within a Moodle learning system. This includes developing and refining lesson plans, activities, and assessments.
  • Independently design, develop, and deliver comprehensive eLearning courses that effectively address the learning objectives and needs of the target audience.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive learning content library.

Quality Assurance

  • Regularly review and update e-learning materials and systems to ensure they meet quality standards. This includes checking for errors, making sure content is up-to-date, and that the layout is user-friendly.
  • Coordinate user testing to ensure the ed-tech tools meet the expectations of end-users, including children, caregivers, and subject matter experts from the Ministry of Education in Jordan.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of CWTL tools through feedback collection, analysis of user engagement, and other evaluation methods.
  • Create, implement, and maintain instructional design standards and processes to ensure consistency and high-quality learning experiences.

Capacity Building

  • Develop and regularly update a variety of Learning content, course materials, assessments, and other learning resources to cater to the dynamic needs of the learners and educators.
  • Provide technical support to users of the Learning platforms, resolving issues and providing guidance as needed.
  • Develop capacity-building plans and content to enhance the users' interaction and experience with the CWTL’s games and LMS. This may include creating videos/webinars, micro modules, or written guides.
  • Work with the Moodle Provider/host to ensure a smooth configuration of the learning system that is user-friendly for children, caregivers, and Ministry of Education staff (in Arabic).
  • Document the processes, workflows, and maintenance of the CWTL’s games and LMS for future reference and training.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in education technology.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technology in education, programming, digital content creation or instructional digital design, with a focus on E-Learning and Learning Management Systems.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the field of educational technology, preferably in an international NGO. Experience should include working with educational software and platforms, developing and implementing e-learning modules, and managing Learning Management Systems.
  • Hands-on experience with authoring tools such as Evolve is highly desirable, along with familiarity with Moodle Learning System.
  • Experience in developing and managing a comprehensive learning content library is a plus.
  • Proven track record of working effectively in a team and independently, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Arabic and English is essential

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

  • High personal integrity, with a commitment to upholding the organization’s values and principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders such as children, caregivers, and subject matter experts from the Ministry of Education in Jordan. Experience in facilitating workshops and training sessions is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues, work under pressure, and make sound decisions.
  • Robust planning and organizational skills, including project management, time management, and the ability to manage a comprehensive learning content library.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Initiative and self-motivation, with the ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • An understanding of the education sector, especially in conflict-affected contexts, is highly beneficial.

Contract

The duration of the contract is six months, with the intention to extend depending on performance and fund availability.

Job Location

Amman, Jordan. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Jordan.
