ABOUT WFP
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill a national intern position with Monitoring & Evaluation Team to be based in Xai-Xai, Mozambique.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of graduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months in Monitoring & Evaluation and Reporting, Statistics, Economics, or equivalent areas of studies.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Experience in use of Power BI, Tableau, data analysis and visualization will be an added advantage.
- Excellent command of Portuguese is required.
- Working knowledge of English would be an asset.
JOB PURPOSE
The World Food Programme – Mozambique Country Office launched its second generation Country Strategic Plan (CSP) in July 2022 to contribute further to the global agenda of 'saving lives and changing lives,' to which Field Office activities align. The World Food Programme (WFP) Xai-Xai Field Office covers both drought-stricken provinces of Inhambane and Gaza which are part of the southern Mozambique region. In the area, livelihoods are majorly dependent on rain-fed agriculture, severally affected by dry spells and low rainfall levels, coupled with variability in agricultural seasons affecting crop maturity and yields. Sometimes the agriculture in the region is also impacted by high incidence of flooding driven by the Limpopo River Basin across the provinces. Often times, the agriculture production is impacted by increased temperatures. These factors, among others, exacerbate the already fragile context and increased levels of vulnerability compromising community ability to cope amidst recurring shocks.
To ensure WFP Xai-Xai Field Office addresses the issues above mentioned we are currently looking for motivated and qualified candidates to enroll on the 2023 National Internship Programme who will be supporting the Monitoring and Reporting team based in Xai-Xai Field Office.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Associate, the selected candidate will perform the following duties:
- Review the monthly activity reports from the team and consolidate them into a monthly situation report for the Field office.
- Support the organization of workshops and trainings relating to M&E.
- Prepare reports on field missions, workshops, and trainings.
- Maintain a process monitoring system and make sure that programmatic issues arising from activity reports, field reports, and reports from cooperating. partners are tracked and updated to the Field office management.
- Provide graphical analysis of programme information and correlation of the statistical reports for decision-making.
- Provide support to the Programme Associate in tracking the MMR targets of Field Monitors and flagging any concerns as soon as they arise.
- Support on the knowledge management at Field office.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP of US$ 575 per month.
- The internship programme is for a duration of 6 months, with possibility to extend for additional 2 months.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognized institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
