The National Zero Hunger Strategic Review (NSR) recommendation has stimulated the necessary partnerships to achieve SDG 2, fostering coordination among the Government of Armenia, donor community, beneficiaries, United Nations agencies, civil society, private sector and the Diaspora. WFP Armenia will pursue strategic partnerships, communication and external advocacy efforts with national and international stakeholders aiming to achieve full implementation of its five-years Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for 2019-2024.
Recognizing the important role that social media platforms, and individuals within them, play in sharing information across the globe, and based on WFP’s efforts to raise visibility on the organization, WFP Armenia is to strengthen its social media presence. This work also includes launching the fundraising platforms of various social media outlets to engage with individuals, the Armenian Diaspora, WFP partners, media as well as targeted population groups. Initially WFP Armenia will seek to raise awareness around tow portfolios, namely Nutrition and Food Value Chain activities, also capitalizing on framing already existing material arounds WFP’s school feeding support.
The WFP Armenia office will aim to apply communication and individual fundraising strategies that encourage followers to engage with WFP and create a sense of community that calls for individuals to join WFP in its fight against food insecurity and malnutrition globally and in Armenia. Through the daily management and production of communication activities, Communications Assistant (Social media specialist) and team will produce appeals, visual content, success stories and engage in one-to-one communication with users. How can you make a difference?
In this position, you will have to:
- Coordinate and support with the execution of the communications campaigns under different projects and target audiences.
- Prepare fact sheets, reports, case studies and converting the narrative into appealing and engaging visuals.
- Monitor and prepare reports on the traditional and social media to inform the development and/or evaluation of communications activities and strategies.
- Under guidance, prepare content for traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of WFP’s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages and standards.
- Support and distribute communications guidelines/SOPs for WFP staff to refer to when on mission and creating content.
- Manage and maintain records and databases, such as journalist and media outlet contact lists, to ensure the information is accurate, organized and readily available for others to access.
- Ensure that all materials and reports are successfully published on all relevant WFP internal social media platforms.
- Liaise with WFP staff and the media in a timely manner, to support aligned activities and an effective approach to communications within WFP.
- Creation of pictures, videos, stories and digital infographics on and for WFP Armenia activities with the support of Communications Officer;
- Identify engaging content which audience might be interested in and organize interviews with different target groups to develop stories and share with external stakeholders and partners.

Education: Completion of secondary school education. University degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communication, Digital Graphic Design or other relevant field is desired.
Experience: Has at least 5 years of experience in producting communication activities, managing communication platforms, creating digital content and reaching out to a wide range of different stakeholders nationally and internationally;
Has experience in producing tailored products, managing and using social media platforms for communication activities;
Has experinece in designining thematic infopgraphics using professional digital design tools and platforms.
Is knowledgeable on how to create and use relevant tools and softwares to edit photos, videos and produce stories.
Knowledge & Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills adapted to communication content;
Advanced knowledge of social media and tools to produce infographics, photos and video-editing;
Creative problem-solver overcoming challenges with an eye for doing great design; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues from different units to content on operational/programatic activities, as well as to build successful long-lasting relationships with donors;
Self-motivated and enthusiastic type of personality comfortable working in a dynamic and collaborative team environment;
Excellent time management skills, including ability to deliver multiple tasks and respond rapidly to emerging and new events;
Excellence in all MS Office Applications and graphic design software.
Languages: Fluency (level C) in English and Armenian languages; Intermediate knowledge (level B) of Russian or French language is highly desirable.
