We are currently seeking to fill an intern position Social Media Team of the Communications, Advocacy and Marketing Division, based in Rome, Italy.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION
The Social Media Team is part of the Digital Unit in the Communications, Advocacy and Marketing Division of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) The team is responsible for managing WFP's largest owned communications channels, as well as enabling and implementing social media best practices across the organisation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Global Social Media Manager, the candidate will perform the following duties:
- Support the Platform Managers in sourcing, editing or producing content for WFP’s six corporate social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube);
- Write copy for social media posts and schedule content across platforms;
- Record the voiceover for video content produced by the team;
- Update social media content calendars and shared databases on a regular basis;
- Monitor comments and mentions and regularly respond and engage with followers;
- Edit and produce vertical video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels using mobile and in-platform editing tools and techniques;
- Upload, organize and archive WFP graphics, photos and videos to the appropriate cloud-based accounts and libraries;
- Track TikTok data on a weekly basis and support Digital Analyst with content tagging for reports;
- Complete other social media projects as assigned;
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this internship with WFP, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme or recently graduated with a university degree in Communications, Art & Design, Marketing, or other relevant fields
- University course attendance in the past 12 months
- Proficient in English. Professional writing skills in English is necessary
- Deep understanding of social media platforms, trends and content best practices

WORKING LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C).
SUPERVISION (Level/Methods of Supervision)
Under the direct supervision of the Global Social Media Manager, the incumbent will be provided with mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:
- Manage the fastest-growth social media platforms for the world’s largest humanitarian agency
- Participate in the content ideation and content production process, working closely with other content creators at WFP
- Understand social media performance metrics and how to feed actionable insights back into the content production loop
- Work as part of a multicultural, diverse team managing WFP’s largest online communications channels
- Understand core narratives and key thematic areas of WFP’s work

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
- WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
- Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
