THE ROLE AND ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This role is part of the organizational development team and will work under the general supervision of the Chief, Career Management Branch within the Human Resources Division. The role is responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation of the organizational development strategy, including the design, development and implementation of a range of corporate programs to equip WFP leaders for people management excellence. In this role, the incumbent will build and maintain strategic partnerships with multiple key stakeholders internally and externally. This position requires specialized knowledge of organizational development approaches, strong business partnering and project management skills. Previous experience in designing and implementing learning interventions and change initiatives across multiple levels of leading self, leading teams and leading the organization is desirable.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
- Lead the review and implementation of WFP’s leadership competency development framework and accountabilities that underpin talent management decisions
- Define the scope and objectives of WFP’s organizational development approach, ensuring the designed solutions cater to leaders along the career path from first-line manager through to the executive team across the organization;
- Providing thought leadership and industry best practices to design and develop leadership advancement programs to equip managers and leaders for people management excellence and meet WFP’s broader organizational strategy;
- Lead the implementation and delivery of Global leadership development programs across the organization
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with multiple key stakeholders externally i.e. vendors in the training design, delivery and suppliers of assessment tools
- Champion the development of a culture of coaching as a key leadership style by ensuring that coaching principles and skills are built into leadership and management development programmes
- Evaluate the impact of existing and new leadership development interventions to identify areas for improvement and opportunities to enhance the current offer to support leaders in achieving their full potential.
- Continuous improvement and updating of current leadership development initiatives against broader organizational strategy and evolving industry best practice
- Define a consistent approach to WFP’s career advancement process, identifying talent development needs and supporting WFP people to further enhance their leadership and people management skills
- Lead the design and implementation of induction programmes for Senior field leaders to enable a smooth and effective transition into key roles across the WFP operations;
- Contribute to WFP’s organizational workplace culture initiatives, by providing relevant expertise from a capability and Leadership development angle, identifying alignments and opportunities for an inclusive workforce
- In close liaison with Learning and Capability Development peers, promote and maintain a productive learning culture by improving the learning experience through integrated solutions and coherent programmes
- Lead and empower a team of learning and development specialists, managing performance, coaching, training and mentorship to facilitate development and enable high performance.
- Stay relevant and up to date with market practices and trends, external networks, reinforce capabilities, and credibility, and share new information with colleagues.
- Contribute to other areas related to capability development and learning and development as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY REQUIREMENTS
Education:
You have:
- Advanced university degree in Organizational Development/Psychology, Leadership Development, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Business or an equivalent field of study or first university degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/courses and certifications
Experience:
You have:
- Minimum of 8 years of professional HR experience, with a successful track-record of leadership/organizational development work with a focus on talent development, change management and instructional development.
Language:
You have:
- Excellent command of English – fluency (level C) in oral and written English is essential.
- Minimum of intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (A WFP’s working language). Ability to speak and write any of these languages is highly desirable. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Mobility is and continues to be a core contractual requirement in WFP. This position is however classified as “non-rotational” which means the incumbent shall not be subject to the regular reassignment process unless the position is reclassified as rotational. The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year.
WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards (http://icsc.un.org) including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days’ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
The position is based in Rome, Italy and the selected candidate will be expected to relocate.
