WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
JOB PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme, the intern will be responsible for researching issues prioritized in the National Pathway Document identified during the National Food Systems Dialogues that occurred in Bangladesh in 2021 and contributed to the UN Food Systems Summit. This work will focus particularly on issues around food waste and food and nutritious loss.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
The selected candidate will be assisting the WFP [[Programme Unit]] with the following key duties:
• Familiarize on the Bangladesh Action Plan for the Food Summit and monitor and report media, and public communications around food waste.
• Attend when required food systems related event, facilitate communication with key stakeholders as guided.
• Support in drafting, editing technical documents on food systems with other stakeholders.
• Gather evidence and practices around the causes of food waste and food loss. Research food waste and food loss solutions most appropriate to the Bangladesh context;
• Map existing relevant initiatives in Bangladesh led by both public, private sector or non-governmental entities;
• Support efficient liaison with FAO or other relevant stakeholders on relevant issues related to the Food Summit and WFP’s work;
• Take notes and provide written summaries of meetings as necessary;
• Any other duties as required
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ [[Please insert the relevant field of study]];
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
- Fluent in English
