JOB PURPOSE
To provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet the FbF/AA assistance needs and will be responsible for mobilizing activities with the CP and SO staff and guidance for the programme activities
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
• Provide technical support and assist in the planning and implementation of resilience interventions such as anticipatory action or forecast based financing
• Support WFP Sub-offices and Cooperating Partners for organizing a successful implementation of the FbF/AA activities and undertake regular field visits to follow-up/monitor the implementation of the programme activities
• Assist CO resilience team to prepare training materials to orient the local stakeholders and communities on FbF/AA activity detailed and facilitate training as feasible
• Follow-up with partners for timely submission of monitoring and progress reports and review both financial and narrative reports and provide feedback
• Work closely with the resilience team and contribute to preparing tools, format, and guidelines for the aforesaid interventions
• Contribute prepare reports, and case studies, for AA activities.
• Maintain partnerships with local institutions to implement FbF/AA interventions
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in social science, environmental science, or any other relevant fields in the relevant field.
WORK EXPERIENCE: At least 6 years' experience in Resilience Building, Climate Change Adaptation and/or Disaster Risk Reduction fields.
LANGUAGE: Proficiency in both oral and written communication skills in English
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
- Demonstrates ability to plan and implement resilience programme activities particularly the Forecast based Financing or anticipatory action assistance deploying the full range of transfer modalities with an understanding of basic principles guiding modality selection and implementation.
- Understands basic technical concepts and data and their relevance to FbF or AA food assistance programmes.
- Understands and applies basic principles of engagement with government counterparts at the national or local level
