Role Overview:
|
The Advocacy, Reporting and Communication Officer is a motivated and collaborative writer and communicator that plays a key role in developing and managing content that support advocacy at local, regional, and international levels whilst also supporting reporting to donors and internal stakeholders and delivering Syria-Turkiye response communication strategy.
Working closely with the response team as well as local implementing partners, this role ensures that all information and data related to the Syria-Türkiye earthquake response is captured, documented, analysed and reported in a results-based and timely manner. It also supports the delivery of the communication and advocacy plans.
This role will report to the Regional Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy Specialist, will have a matrix reporting line to the Senior Humanitarian Response Manager and will work closely with the Regional Communication and Campaigns Coordinator to deliver the emergency response communication strategy.

Key Activities
|
Advocacy
|
- Work closely with Regional Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy Specialist to implement the policy and advocacy strategy of ActionAid Arab Region Syria—Türkiye earthquake response.
- Conduct research and analysis of relevant policy issues and monitor political developments related to the response.
- Contribute to the development of positions, advocacy strategies, briefing papers, statements, opinion pieces and other outreach and policy products.
- In coordinate with the Regional Policy and Advocacy Specialist, liaise with several internal stakeholders within the federation to ensure policy and advocacy messages are well communicated and coordinated across the federation
- Oversee the progress and achievements of the policy and advocacy strategy, and provide timely reporting on progress, achievement, barriers…etc.
- In close coordination with the Regional Communication and Campaigns Coordinator, establish and follow up on significant media relations that support amplifying AAAR Syria-Türkiye response policy and advocacy messages.
- Responsible for the coordination of ActionAid Syria-Turkiye response Advocacy working group, ensure all meetings are well documented, actions are followed up and implemented
- List and track advocacy momentum and opportunities that could trigger joint actions, including calendar dates; high level meetings; anniversaries; international days

Reporting
|
- With input from the partnership manager and PQMEAL coordinator, help produce high quality program progress reports as per donors and ActionAid requirements.
- Provide high quality editing and formatting for all program related documents and visualize quantitative data in infographics.
- Support the Syria-Türkiye response team in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences and field visits as required.
- Provide continuous analysis of the achievements, facilitate project review, evaluation, and audits.

Communication

- Responsible for providing content to facilitate the delivery of the earthquake response communication strategy.
- Ensure effective communications, visibility, and knowledge management within ActionAid and to external audience.
- Undertake field visits (physical or virtual) to gather the information and results related to the earthquake response.
- Support the Regional Communication and Campaigns Coordinator in developing visibility material related to the earthquake response such as newsletter, success stories, website updates, news features….

Person Specification
|
Education & Certifications
|
- A degree in communications, journalism, social sciences or related areas.
|
Essential Experience Knowledge and Skills
|
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience in the fields of communication, reporting and/or advocacy
- Excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills in English, Arabic is an advantage.
- Well versed in the latest electronic publishing and graphics methods.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation, and coaching.
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets.
- Well versed in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and Skills
|
- Experience in or knowledge of the Arab Region, specifically Syria
- Knowledge of Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA).
