REACH Database Officer
Objectives
The REACH Database Officer is responsible for providing a range of database functions, Information Management and Business Inelegant Support to REACH Regional Office. Also he/she will be the focal point for anything related to the kobo(ODK)-(Developing new forms , Managing all kobo servers) and the REACH Database Assistant will write the SoPs and Training materials for anything related to the Database Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Data processing and management:
• To oversee all data entry supporting REACH assessment projects.
• Provide support in monitoring, cleaning and analysis incoming data.
• To collect and file all support documents needed for the database.
• Follow the work plan as outlined by the Senior DB Officer.
• REACH workload permitting, providing support to REACH/ACTED MENA programs databases providing data outputs upon request.
2. Developing Applications to support data collection:
• Build and create Xls kobo forms from scratch.
• Provide support to field staff during the data collection process.
• Do any necessary edits on the forms for all missions.
• Do testing and QA for the form and make sure that its working on the best performance.
• Provide trainings for the enumerators on some sections and questions on the tools.
3. Filing
· Ensure that all inputs and outputs for the Database team are filed on the REACH server, in line with the designated filing system.
· Ensure that backup system is running on all storage systems being used (local servers, mobile data collection servers, cloud storage).
4. IT & Networking
· Operate the Help Desk, providing technical support and troubleshooting for users’ hardware, software, and printers/copier.
· Ensuring the highest network day to day availability and good performance of the IT network and communications.
· Maintain and administer Backed up copies of Servers and client PCs data to prevent accidental loss.
· Understand and follow appropriate IT procedures, and support user awareness of IT systems and procedures.
· Maintenance for Network Cables and Points, make sure that all the cables are in good shape and there are no losses.
5. Cloud Server
· Server is remotely accessible; by Configuring the VPN for external access, and make sure that all teams are using the cloud server rather than drop box.
· Make permissions for each staff and each team to get access on specific folders (not all).
· Make sure that the cloud server is working on a high performance.
· Keep track of all processes and activity log.
· Make training for all staff and teams about the cloud server and for the synology drive client.
· Making backup for all data on the cloud sever.
6. Information Management
· Helping other staff with learn some tips for data cleaning and visualization.
· Filtering the data and checking duplicates by using some formulas on the data.
· Checking the correctness of the incoming data from the field team and the enumerators.
· Visualize data using interactive Dashboards (PoweBI).
7. GIS
· Conduct a study of remote sensing and GIS using satellite imagery to present the changes that occurred in a period of time, like Shelter counts projects.
• Printing maps with size and accuracy depending on the request.
• Generating maps by visualizing the data to deduce spatial trends, Mapping indicators based on the type of data analysis.
8. Capacity Building and Documentation
· Writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.
- Writing Training materials.

Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Since or Computer Information System or a related field;
- Fluent English and Arabic (written and spoken);
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-pace environment;
- Good organisational and prioritisation skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Publisher;
- Willingness to learn and capacity to innovate
- Good command of at least one major database technology, (for example: Sql , Excel), in addition to good general knowledge of database management.
- Strong problem-solving skills to fully research the problem and determine the best solution.
- Experience with Object oriented Programming language (Java, C#, Python, R…).
- Experience with Database (SQL, MySQL, Oracle..).
- Experience with ODK KoboToolBox or any Forms online builder.
- Experience with IT technical support (Preferred).
- Experience with QA (Preferred).
- Basic networking skills including TCP/IP, and Network cabling and infrastructure.
- Experience with software Quality Assurance (IT) (Preferred)
- Experience in Microsoft Cloud, Office 365.
