BACKGROUND & PURPOSE
To support the upcoming SBCC activities, in particular formative research as well as media-based interventions, an intern with some experience in research and data collection as well as working with any type of mass media is required. The main duties of the given intern will be to support the data collection process of the research and prepare data for analysis; support the implementation of the media-based SBCC interventions in cooperation with local mass media; and contribute to the implementation of other activities of the nutrition division.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1. Support with the SBCC formative research conduction: data collection, translation, and transcription.
2. Support with the learning module development for the NRCs: minor tasks related to designing the module, conducting pilot activities in schools.
3. Support with the implementation of the SBCC media-based interventions: support the process monitoring, participate in the script and content development processes.
4. Support with the organization of various events.
5. Other support to the team when required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate programme in Social Science, Media & Communications, or other relevant majors, from a recognized university, have completed at least two years of the programme and attended classes in the past 12 months; OR
- Recently graduated from an undergraduate/graduate programme in Social Science, Media & Communications, or other relevant majors (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university and have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment in the university; OR
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (e.g. Master's degree) in Social Science, Media & Communications, or other relevant fields at a recognized university and have attended classes in the past 12 months;
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills;
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and other relevant software.
- Ability to work independently, plan and prioritize.
Languages:
- Required fluency (level C) in oral and written English;
- Required fluency (level C) in oral and written Tajik or Russian; fluency in both is an advantage;
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in research, data collection and reporting is important. Experience of working with any media platform is welcomed.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
– Interns will receive a monthly stipend as a contribution towards basic subsidence costs the amount of which varies from duty station to another;
– WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs;
– Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country;
– WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
