OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCY

The SBN Coordinator/consultant will lead the network and technically support in implementing SBN Myanmar Strategy 2023-2025 consulting with the SBN Board. Required changes and adaptations will happen in close collaboration with WFP, SBN Executive Board, and other partners.

Specific objectives of the consultancy are:

  1. Lead business sensitization, advocacy activities and deepen engagement with the private sector in the SBN strategic priority areas
  2. Manage SBN’s positioning among the private sector entities while expanding the membership base
  3. Support the implementation of the SBN strategy, thematic areas together with the team and collaborating with relevant stakeholders in country
  4. Coordinate for SBN Myanmar representation in national, regional and global SUN/SBN networks and partnership with relevant stakeholders (UN/CSOs/Private Sector)
  5. Explore potential resource mobilization plan for SBN and develop resource mobilization ideas

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The responsibilities are divided into six main categories.

Technical Assistance to Members/SMEs

  • Design and delivery of network technical assistance activities for SBN members along with increasing business commitments (including capacity assessment)
  • Develop technical toolkit and support linkages for SME market connectivity, access to finance and SBN match-making support activities
  • Together with the team, operationalize thematic working group discussions and knowledge sharing events in line with the SBN Strategy 2023-25 and thematic areas

Business Engagements & Advocacy

  • Lead the development of the business engagement plan in consultation with Executive Board and members (SBN executive board meetings and annual member general meeting)
  • Organize business engagement and advocacy events to expand membership of SBN
  • Plan and organize awareness and advocacy session(s) with existing members for strengthening business commitments
  • Business mapping and listing, and prioritize relevant private sector entities and business service providers in Myanmar and strategically approach them for membership and network engagements

Project Management Support

  • Manage the team on SBN strategy roll out, project implementation and on-demand network support
  • Conduct thematic working groups meetings, document the meetings discussion and implement follow-up actions with the team
  • Arrange quarterly planning of project activities with team

Communications and Reporting:

  • Develop and submit annual/bi-annual project report and SBN newsletter to SBN donor(s)
  • Together with the WFP communications team, design and develop SBN advocacy communications, materials, and channels
  • Manage SBN membership database and conduct membership survey (biannually/annually)

Network Coordination and SBN Representation

  • Support SBN involvement in multi-sectoral nutrition engagement activities and implementation in country with other country SUN networks
  • Represent SBN Myanmar at the regional and global SUN Movement and SBN calls

Resource Mobilization

  • Together with the WFP Nutrition and PCR team, explore funding opportunities and lead the development of a funding proposal to mobilize funds.

OUTPUTS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Annual and semi-annual donor and SUN/SBN global reports submit
  • Knowledge sharing toolkit develop based on SBN thematic area
  • National SUN pitch competition conduct
  • SBN match making system/tool develop and make linkages between food producers and development & humanitarian assistance
  • One funding proposal which can be aligned with the SBN second phase strategy

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Advanced University Degree in Social Science, Business administration, Public Health/Nutrition, Development Economics, Health Economics, and any other relevant field.

Experience: Minimum ten (10) years of work experience including 5 years in the senior/mid-senior level in the Nutrition, business engagement and food sector for the advancement in the development goals, and different stakeholder management/engagement. Work experience in Myanmar context is considered advantageous.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Myanmar and local dialect at the duty station will be an added advantage.
