Technical Automation Manager – Ports

The purpose of the Technical Automation Manager is to establish and manage port automation and integration projects along with the port development, including but not limited to equipment automation, process automation and optimization, real time monitoring, dynamic planning, predictive planning as well as artificial intelligence and machine learning. This includes engagement with process and project owners to coach and direct them during the implementation phase.
Seamless integration between the container terminal and the automated warehouse is a key deliverable for the Neom Sea Mobility and Supply Chain and Logistics teams. As such warehouse automation integration is also included in scope, incorporating horizontal transport as well as design interfaces between the two assets as well as implementation and integration of terminal and warehousing systems, equipment and testing. This role will serve as the point of contact representing the container terminal for all automated warehouse interfaces, including engagement with automated warehouse suppliers and equipment for all integration points between these two teams.
To ensure seamless integration, significant engagement in warehousing automation is anticipated across all automated warehouse workstreams.
- Lead, design, develop and implement automation systems including related applications, hardware, interfaces, and communications
- Manage vendor relationships, including factory visits and consultant programs, performance and reporting
- Participate in procurement strategizing for automation and AI including tender review and evaluation
- Lead automaton projects and maintain project standards including business process mapping and transformation, change control process and software lifecycle in the execution of small projects
- Coach and guide process and project owners in their workstreams, who likely do not have previous automation experience
- Serve as key contact for equipment, systems and data interfaces between port operations and Supply Chain and Logistics interfacing
- Create understanding of T1 automated warehouse processes and engage in automated warehouse flows, process design and interfacing to support overall seamless integration with container terminal operations
- Engagement in T1 Automation Advisory Team for container and warehouse automation interface decision making and strategic alignment
- Provide perspective for decision making with sound supporting rational
- Lead interfacing scope between container terminal and warehousing interfaces; systems, equipment and data
- Identify risks and propose mitigation points to the T1 Automation Advisory Team
- Serve as sparring partner to automation warehouse team and accept them as an equal sparring partner for container handling automation
- Lead workstreams in the implementation of warehouse automation
- Perform troubleshooting activities to maintain and improve process control utilization and reliability
- Providing routine work efforts to maintain and improve automation performance
- Act as an automation and integration subject matter expert for process hazards analysis, process design modifications, risk assessment review, alarm management, and incident investigations
- Drive and implement rigorous quality standards for all aspects of the automation delivery from initial concept to final commissioning and handover.
- Effectively manage the automation resources to deliver multiple automation projects on time and to budget
- Manage sub-contract resources, and ensure compliance with all NEOM policies
- Contribute to the development of relevant working procedures, templates, documents and standards.

Requirements:
- Solid knowledge in port automation and integration initiatives, previous role in container terminal automation is a must
- Strong project management skills with proven automation project implementation experience
- Knowledge of TOS, GOS, PDS and PLC in live environment
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance processes and systems in automation implementations
- No previous warehouse automation experience required
- Have good command of both written and spoken English
- Bachelor’s Degree in Automation, Data Mining, IT or Business Management
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automation and integration role
