JOB ROLE
The Senior Manager – Taxation role will lead and manage tax strategy and policy for Riyadh Air, with respect to its global operations and manage the overall tax department functions: tax advisory and planning, compliance, reporting and audit controversies for all direct and indirect taxes. The role focuses on a range of with an exceptional guest experience, tax aspects, such as ensuring Riyadh Air benefits from available airline bilateral corporate international taxation exemptions, monitor OCED BEPS implications, indirect taxation, transfer pricing and tax risk mitigation.
GENERAL ACTIVITIES
- Responsible for Riyadh Air’s global taxation strategy and policy, managing the wider global tax, business and regulatory environment and trends (including the OECD BEPS initiative,) to understand and assess the implications on Riyadh Air tax strategy, policy and compliance, tax transparency and wider disclosure perspective.
- Overall responsibility for managing Riyadh Air’s overall effective tax rate, including identifying significant global tax risk areas and establishing controls/procedures to manage such risks.
- Advocacy: Represent Riyadh Air in IATA tax working groups and advocacy forums; taking prominent role in the IATA Industry Tax Working Group. Lead and develop strategic road map for double taxation treaty (DTA) access for to mitigate significant corporate tax footprint exposures to avoid revenues being taxed at gross revenue basis. Work with the relevant KSA Tax Authorities and the PIF Tax teams.
- Lead on the overall tax technology and business process improvement aspects from a strategic objective perspective in respect of system implementations and other changes where taxes are impacted including in respect of indirect tax to reduce time and efforts spent on indirect tax compliance.
- Overall management of strategic and complex tax transactions, new or changing business arrangements, from advisory, planning and risk management perspectives across Riyadh Air entities to identify and manage the nature and scope of tax risks/exposures, incorporate tax efficiencies, establish tax structures (as appropriate) to separate exempt and non-exempt activities to protect and preserve tax exemptions, determine appropriate vehicles to accommodate tax risks and establish tax efficient intermediate holding platforms, including direct leadership of sensitive high-profile projects, and lead tax reviews across the Riyadh Air group’s contractual arrangements and disputes with counterparties, in relation to complex tax aspects (e.g. aircraft transactions, new business models (e.g. in holidays, Loyalty, etc).
- Lead the Teams efforts in responding to audits by tax authorities, ensuring our responses are sufficiently robust, proportionate and in line with tax policy.
- Direct and manage the deployment of resources (including people and budgets) to deliver Tax goals and KPIs, including develop the tax team on technical, business and personal development areas.
- Provide monthly tax risk review updates to SVP Treasury / CFO and report other key tax metrics.
Profile Requirements
Professional Experience
- Minimum 15 years of tax advisory and/or tax compliance experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) or multinational business including five years working in an international taxation environment.
Academic Qualifications
- Educated to a bachelor’s degree and a relevant professional chartered qualification.
