JOB ROLE
This is a senior level role responsible for the overall project, program and portfolio governance of the digital, technology and innovation function. The Senior Manager Digital, Technology & Innovation (DTI) Portfolio Management will be responsible for working with the VP DTI and the various DTI leads to drive the development of the DTI strategy, roadmap and plans to realize the business objectives.
This role will ensure the continuous adaptation of the strategy and its subsequent key initiatives and ensure portfolio management processes align with lean portfolio management principles. They will help maintain the organizations competitive advantage by leading the prioritization of initiatives that will drive results.
GENERAL ACTIVITIES

  • Drive the development of the DTI strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the overall strategy of the organization.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the portfolio management processes, including tools and templates which support both waterfall and agile project delivery and drives adoption of lean portfolio management principles.
  • Work directly with the business’s leadership, executives, and stakeholders to identify, align, and develop the high priority strategic initiatives roadmap. In line with Lean Portfolio Management principles, overseeing periodic reviews.
  • Track the overall progress against the Digital, Technology, Innovation strategy,
  • Support the various Digital Technology and Innovation leaders in the development of their departmental strategies.
  • Identify dependencies as part of demand management and consider these during portfolio scheduling.
  • Resolve or escalate any conflicts.
  • Drive and maintain a portfolio and demand management process, ensure all resources in Digital Technology and Innovation are aware of the process and adhered to it.
  • Develop the portfolio schedule based on project demand, resource capacity and what if scenarios.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of the PMO strategy, ensuring alignment to the overall DTI strategy.
  • Oversee portfolio level lean agile cadences across DTI including epic / business case development, prioritization and value realization.
  • Provide executive updates to the DTI Leadership Team and support executive level communications and briefings.
  • Track delivery and performance KPI’s across DTI, facilitating executive level reporting and reporting.
  • Drive adoption of best practice project, program and portfolio management practices across DTI including standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Set standards for project, program, and portfolio management capabilities, including certifications and qualifications, success measurement criteria, methodologies, tools to be used, etc.
  • Foster a collaborative environment of project management and agile practitioners supporting the organization in its transition to agile through sharing of best practice, coaching, training and support.
  • Defines best practices to develop program specific practices and processes to ensure alignment with program goals and strategy. Defines needed practices and processes to ensure successful program delivery where no best practices exist.
  • Collaborating with Program Stakeholders and leadership to prioritize program deliverables.
  • Designing program success measures, tailoring existing best practices to the needs of the program team and stakeholders.
  • Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large-scale projects or a program.
  • Prepares program documents: program roadmaps, plan, scope, and schedules and established program governance.
  • Minimizes our exposure and risk across multiple projects; Conducts risk monitoring and controls during a project's duration to ensure ability to achieve expected outcomes, on time and on budget.

Profile Requirements
Professional Experience

  • Proven PMO Leader with a minimum of 15 years of experience in complex IT environments and software implementations.
  • Experience within the airline industry is beneficial.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree would be a strong advantage.

Competency Requirements

  • Strong project / program / portfolio management experience following both waterfall and agile methods is essential.
  • Skilled at providing clarity of purpose and goals to all involved and ensuring alignment across all aspects of their programs.
  • 3+ years of experience following Agile at scale is essential, i.e. agile applied at a portfolio, value stream or program level, applying agile and/or scrum as a way of working to deliver technology products. Experience in lean portfolio management is beneficial.
  • Must possess project management / PMO certifications in both waterfall (Prince 2, PMP or equivalent) and Agile (Scrum, SAFe or equivalent).
  • Must have experience of operating at an executive level working with both business and IT executives to drive common approaches and delivery value.
  • Must have experience of developing leading practices in project management within organizations, fostering collaboration between IT and the business and demonstrating a step change in IT delivery KPIs.
  • Must have experience of leading and performance managing a team to maximize their potential.
  • Experience in leading and facilitating workshops using techniques like design thinking.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills are a must, with the ability to formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues, and create a concise and well-written narrative.
  • Detail oriented possessing high organization and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong Project Accounting skills: Integrates financial data for multiple projects; Develops project cost estimates and forecasting.
