JOB PURPOSE

To provide effective project management support and technical analyses to nutrition programme activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Contribute towards the development of a limited number of projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidance.
  2. Provide project management support to specific and defined programmes and projects of small to moderate size that are relatively straight forward in nature, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
  3. Follow data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  4. Research and analyse policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the development of policies, programmes and activities.
  5. Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  6. Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects.
  7. Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to improved food assistance packages.
  8. Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to prepare for and respond to food assistance needs, e.g. through project management support of learning initiatives.
  9. Provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting them with analysis and queries.
  10. Other as required.

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

•To coordinate on regular basis with all relevant stakeholders to develop the synergies and partnerships for successful implementation of BISP Stunting prevention project at district and provincial level. (To develop linkages among different sectors through multi-sectoral approach to develop the synergies.
•To maintain close liaison with Department of Health, LHWP, BISP District office to mobilize eligible beneficiaries at Nashonuma Centre and to develop the required partnerships
•Plan and manage/lead WFP field operations within the area of assignment to ensure effective and efficient delivery of food assistance and that daily operational issues are quickly resolved to prevent losses or
•Provide project management support to specific and defined “BISP Nashonuma” activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programme/projects that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
•Assist in preparing project documents with partners.
•Support in organizing project planning missions, meetings and briefing sessions to identify and analyse problems and recommend project;
•Provide support to assess project performance including utilization of resources and achievement of planned targets;
•Analyse the received reports/data to ensure achievement of objectives and suggest corrective actions when necessary to meet project objectives. Assist in the development and introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in project-management
•Monitor, update and track data related to project issues, commodity pipelines and financial allotment status reports, informing the relevant divisions accordingly; ensure accuracy of data related to the above;
•Assist to analyse and prepare projections for food commodities and non-food items to ensure timely call forward and/or local procurement including other complementary inputs like trainings, reviews, stationary
•Prepare allocation plans to ensure timely preparation of agreements/ MOUs/ FLAs with all partners for quality delivery of services through transparent and competitive selection process using maturity of judgment and negotiating skills. Coordinate with other units for timely delivery of food to the targeted beneficiaries in line with agreed implementation plans.
•Maintain records on programme activities, from formulation stage through completion, by extracting relevant information from reports, project committees, budget records and other documentation; make information available for country briefs, country profiles, and other related purposes; ensure project cycle deadlines are met;
•Carry out advocacy and information related tasks for project/programme activities such as making presentations in meetings, workshops, seminars, missions, etc;
•Prepare status and progress reports by providing information and background material for use in discussions and briefing sessions; Facilitate accurate and timely inputs/ reports from the implementing partners for M&E analysis and status reports.
•Assist in arranging trainings, reviews and other programme related events
•Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education: Advanced University degree in Nutrition, Health, Social Sciences or other field relevant, or First University Degree with additional two years of related work experience at professional / managerial level.

Experience: Minimum three years of professional / managerial level experience in Nutrition. Experience in the development sector, INGO, UN will be an advantage. Experience for working with the government is desirable.
•Has gained experience in implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.).
•Has implemented programmes and provided input into designing operations.
•Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
•Has worked with technical teams for the implementation of public health projects.
•Has contributed to implementation of nutrition programmes in Punjab setting, and is aware of department of health and other departments working in Punjab

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
