Re-advertisement: Support Manager Jordan Irbid Host Area – National position
The Area Support Manager is a critical senior Leader in the NRC Jordan “Host” Area Office. Based in Irbid but with regular working from Amman, the role has full responsibility for all support functions in the Host Area Office. Responsible for supporting a portfolio of roughly JOD 12-15m with programs in Amman, Irbid, Mafraq and Zarqa, the Area Support Manager is a member of the Area Management Group and is responsible for supporting the Area Manager in delivering the area level strategy and action plans.
What you will do
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.
- Line management of support staff such as Finance, HR & Admin and Logistics
- Member of the Area Management Group
- Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and handbooks and donor/auditor requirements, under CO guidance, ensure compliance with Securing Supporting Documentation SOP as well as CO data management system
- Provide input on operational support to the Area Plan of Action, and to coordinate and align operational support with program plans at Area level.
- Contribute to strengthen the CO and Area level implementation through the creation of relevant SOP and procedures also responsible for implementation of new country specific technical SOPs, guidelines and tools in the Area (HR, Logistic and Finance)
- Oversee implementation of identified risk mitigation measures, including compliance spot checks in line with anti–corruption risk mapping
- Ensure strong coordination with Amman-based support departments and act as the focal point for coordination of support departments between the Country Office and Area Office
- Responsible for ensuring quality support to project implementation, advise and support Project Managers in the implementation of support related SOPs
- Facilitate Area Support Budget, area level budgets, including support cost
- Responsible for developing regular reports on Area level to Country Office and AM
- Facilitate trainings for programme staff on finance, logistics and HR procedures
Professional competencies for this position:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a management position as Support/Operation Manager in a humanitarian/ recovery context
- Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context/Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience in implementation of humanitarian projects/programs
- Solid knowledge of Logistic and procurement, HR and finance routines in a humanitarian context
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
- Knowledge of own leadership skills/profile

Travel: 40% within Jordan
Grade 8 in NRC's grading structure
Reporting line: Area Manager
Contract: 6 months renewable
