Driver
GENERAL FUNCTION
Driver for the “USAID Strengthening Civil Society and Media Systems Activity (Sawt)”. The Driver is responsible for driving Sawt staff to/from official appointments and for the upkeep and maintenance of project vehicles. The role also follows up on the delivery and pick up of official documents as well as processing customs and visa paperwork.
Notes
This role is based in Amman – Jordan. The chosen candidate should have the ability and permission to work and reside in Jordan without Internews sponsorship.

This is a limited duration position, with an expected end date of March 2027.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below; other duties may be assigned.
- Drive project vehicles as assigned and/or pre-approved by supervisor, including project-related transportation within Amman and other cities as well as other driving assignments as required.
- Clean assigned vehicles as needed onside and out.
- Check assigned vehicles weekly to ensure that they are operational and safe to drive, including oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires, lights, and signals.
- Initiate and supervise any repairs required on assigned vehicles with supervisor's approval.
- Initiate and supervise routine periodic maintenance of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning based on the manufacturer's instructions on optimum maintenance requirements.
- Fulfill project-reporting requirements and maintain records on vehicle routing, vehicle condition, etc.
- Ensure passenger safety by abiding by traffic laws and driving carefully.
- Liaise with government agencies, travel agencies and other service providers to deliver, pick up and follow up on official documents in a timely manner.
- Expedite functions related to staff visa and customs formalities and arrangements when required.
- Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, etc.
- Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
- Supervise vehicle clearance, customs requirements, and licensing processes.
- Do basic handywork if needed.
- Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure program success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma.
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum 2 years of experince as a driver for a professional establishment.
- Experience in following up on official paperwork with governmental establsihments and service providers.
- General knowledge of auto mechanics.
- Basic knowledge in handywork.
- Great time management skills.
- Great customer attitude and attentiveness.
- Open to working nights and weekends.
- Open to undertaking field visits outside Amman with a possibility of overnight stays.
- Great organizational skills.
