JOB PURPOSE AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITES
The job holder will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Programme Advisor and in support of all teams within the Programme Unit, including the regional Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) consultant. The incumbent is expected to collaborate closely with the Communications Unit. In response to demands from across the Programme Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for developing visually compelling and innovative graphics for print, digital, and web-based media.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Support the Programme Unit to design communication tools for advocacy purposes (e.g., infographics, videos, templates, banners, charts, reports, etc.) in line with WFP's corporate branding guidelines.
2. Provide support to RBP-organized events that require the development of communication tools and visibility documents, while contributing to the development of “branding”.
3. Create animations and graphic videos as part of the Programme Unit’s multimedia communications needs and priorities.
4. Coordinate with external suppliers, such as translators, to ensure that outsourced deliverables are carried out in a timely and efficient way.
5. Support regional Communication with Communities activities and initiatives as well as supporting country offices to develop of key materials, including through field visits
6. Undertake quality checks on visibility materials and key programme publications.
7. Other duties relevant for the work of the Programme team.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Education: Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Communication, Social Science, Political Science, International studies or other related fields.

Experience: At least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting the development of social behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies and interventions, communication with communities or communication for development. Previous demonstrated experience in the Latin America & the Caribbean region is key. Experience working with multiple stakeholders and actors involved in the programme cycle is critical. Previous experience working for WFP is desired. Experience in emergency contexts or working at community or field level will be an asset.
- Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is essential Fluency in French would be an asset.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong, conceptual thinker who possesses a wide range of design capabilities including a solid background in print, branding, typography, retail graphics and web design experience.
- Excellent skills in Adobe’s Creative Suite that includes Acrobat, AI, PS, ID, XD, AE Proficient in Sketch and Figma for all the digital and graphic source files.
- Experience creating layouts, manuals, brochures, reports and other visual materials.
- Experience with animation and/or creating graphics for videos.
- Able to work well in multicultural and diverse teams and brainstorm on creative ideas to come to a team solution.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging design trends with a creative flair, originality, and a strong visual sense Self-motivated and detail oriented, capable to make creative decisions, meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities. Knowledge of social behavior change communication processes and tools.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
Key deliverables by the end of the contract will include the following:
• Graphic design work for the State of the School Feeding in LAC publication (June 2023)
• Graphic design work for the Regional SP Pathways to Nutrition study (March 2023)
• Graphic design work for the Regional SF and Food Systems Study with CIAT (April 2023)
• Graphic design work for the Nutrition Sensitive Programming Learning Journey (second half of 2023)
• Branding and visuals for the launch event for the State of School Feeding Publication and the Regional SP Pathways to Nutrition Study (Sep 2023)
• Branding and visuals for other regional programme-related events, workshops and trainings planned during the year (both internal and external)
• Graphic design work for other programme-related publications (to be determined)
