POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Deputy Chief of Party position will be hired on a USAID higher education program in Jordan. This program will work assist Jordanian higher education institutions provide quality, inclusive, student-centered, market relevant education and foster innovation for economic growth, through partnerships with industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Chief of Party to provide technical leadership and vision for the program
  • Serve as Acting Chief of Party in the COP’s absence
  • Oversight of some program staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the higher education sector, of which 9 years must be in areas related to higher education institutional capacity development and/or private sector engagement, preferably both
  • Previous experience as a Deputy Chief of Party or other key leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain results in complex international development assistance programs in Jordan or similar developing country contexts
  • Previous experience as a key technical resource in systems strengthening, policy reform, and collaborating, learning and adapting
  • Previous experience working with USAID and/or other international donors
  • Understanding of Jordanian context
  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • English fluency required

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (either on a full time, temporary, or hybrid basis).

  • Computer (laptop or desktop)
  • Printer/Photocopier/Scanner/Fax
  • Telephone

Up to 50% business travel may be needed to support the Program as needed.
