I. Background information on CVT
Člověk v tísni (CVT) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance in over 20 countries worldwide. CVT draws on extensive past experiences and lessons learned across development, emergency and post emergency contexts to design, implement and monitor quality programming.
CVT has been working in Syria since 2012, providing emergency relief and early recovery support to conflict-affected communities. Programmes for conflict-affected communities in Syria focus mainly on Emergency Food Assistance, WASH, Shelter and Education, in addition to Early Recovery and Livelihoods activities.
II. Objective of the services
Given the highly sensitive context of operation in Syria and the high level of stress CVT’s employees are facing, CVT is looking for an experienced psychologists/professionals able to provide psychosocial support/ counselling for its employees (3 persons – at least one of them needs to be female).
The extreme volatility of CVT’s areas of intervention and the high exposure of CVT’s staff is affecting their well-being and ability to cope with work in an effective manner. As part of its Duty of Care policy, CVT is looking to implement additional proactive measures to help staff in mitigating the risk of stress and potential trauma.
III. SCOPE OF SERVICE
1. Qualified quotations are sought from a competent psychology service provider with a certified license/authorization to practice for the following services:
Psychosocial/Psychological support to CVT’s staff including
a) Remote and individual counselling and psychotherapy via (phone, skype, WhatsApp…etc.)
b) Ability to conduct culturally sensitive interventional and psychological first aid and crisis intervention
c) Ability to conduct long-term therapy sessions to tackle experiencing traumatic events (maximum 1 session a week per employee)
CVT staffing
o 304+ national staff in Syria
2. A service contract can be awarded to one or several suppliers.
IV. EVALUATION CRITERIA
1. The evaluation committee will evaluate and award the service contract on the basis of the following evaluation criteria
Preferable Criteria:
Completed university education in Social science, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology supported by Psychotherapeutic training/certification, training specialized in PSTD (post-trauma) or crisis intervention. Copy of Diploma/Certificate required
Experience in providing psychological and trauma informed counselling for war-affected victims. CV required
Ability to provide psychological support, counselling and long-term therapy in Arabic, will be verified in interview.
Ability and experience in providing remote psychological support and counselling will be verified in interview
Ability to provide first aid counselling in cases of emergency and crisis intervention. will be verified in interview
Ability to provide long-term therapy, and experience with working with trauma victims. will be verified in interview
Understanding of and experience implementing culturally appropriate mental health therapeutic interventions for staff experiencing stress and other psychological disorders in the Syrian crisis context. will be verified in interview
Flexibility in providing counselling outside of working hours in case of emergency. will be verified in interview
Ability to answer requests from CVT’s staff within 24 hours in case of emergency Main qualifications. will be verified in interview
Strong understanding of war/conflict-affected persons, trauma informed and the Syrian context
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. will be verified in interview
Strong work ethic and commitment to confidentiality. will be verified in interview
