Geriatric Nurse (Elder Care)
Job Description
The Nurse will be responsible for providing nursing assessment, interventions, and care for the elderly in their homes under the UPA Elderly Nursing Program in Gaza Camp, Jerash. The nurse will also perform health promotion, prevention, and education activities in the camp. This position reports to the Senior Health Program Officer, with a dotted line to the UPA Community Center Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assessment of physical and psychological wellness for the elderly in Gaza camp under the nursing care program.
- Work with the elderly on preparing, formulating, and following up on nursing care plans.
- Address and treat elderly medical chief complaints under the nursing program. Organize and conduct health promotion, prevention, and education activities.
Requirements and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing. In addition, they must be licensed to practice nursing by the Ministry of Health.
- At least two years of experience in geriatric nursing or a related field.
- Communicate effectively with the Elderly, their families, and other healthcare providers.
- Empathize with the Elderlies and understand the challenges they face as they age.
- Work with patients who may have memory loss, confusion, or other cognitive impairments.
- Elderly nurses must be culturally competent and able to provide care to patients from diverse backgrounds.
