Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Regional Health Assessment Program Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Regional Medical Movement and Mobile Support Physician, the successful candidate will serve as the regional nurse focal point for supporting medical processes for OAW in MENA, assuring compliance to travel health and vaccination guidelines specific to this population. Ensuring compliance with OAW protocols/technical instructions, unifying them with USRAP standards while also enhancing the expanded public health and health education activities for these populations.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Follow up daily nursing activities related to OAW Health Assessment Program in remote locations to fulfil the technical requirements of the resettlement countries in the areas of:
A. Medical examinations,
• Such as checking vital signs, weight, height, visual acuity;
• Blood, urine or sputum collection as required;
B. Imaging;
C. Laboratory testing;
D. Vaccinations;
E. TB management;
F. Treatment and referrals;
G. Pre-departure procedures and medical movements;
H. Documentation, certification and information transmission; and,
I. Other technical areas as may be required.
- Review the e-Advanced Medical Notification reports for OAW movements out of MENA for remotely assisted locations and highlight cases that might need special travel arrangements.
- Follow up with the Regional Data Team and country focal persons on OAW cases missing data entry on Mimosa to ensure the Health Assessment data as well as the pre-departure evaluation and related documents are entered into Mimosa prior to applicants departure.
- Communicate with applicants assigned to movements out of Europe, Pakistan and the Gulf to covey clear instructions on the needed pre-departure arrangements and provide the needed counselling, either directly or through the Task Force partners.
- Support the enhancement of expanded public health activities and health education through the contribution to developing and implementing language and culture sensitive health IEC material.
- Conduct virtual/Video-PEC to applicants whose in-person PEC arrangement is logistically not possible, and record the assessment in Mimosa.
- Conduct proper Phone Triage for COVID-19 symptoms for applicants in remote locations and ensure the health requirements are met.
- Liaise with the OPS and MHDs in remote locations to ensure proper arrangements are in place pertaining medical screening of the applicants prior to departure.
- Conduct Quality Control checks on shared health assessment data received from the IOM affiliated panel sites, highlighting any cases under OAW project in the pipeline that warrant further medical follow up
- Prepare administrative reports and program updates as necessary.
- Support the planning and execution of mobile missions if applicable.
- Assist with pre-departure documents, briefings and preparations as necessary.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Nursing with minimum Three years (3) of relevant clinical experience and valid license to practice nursing. Or, completed High school/Diploma from an accredited academic institution in Nursing with minimum Five years (5) of relevant clinical experience.
- Minimum of three years (3) years, post-graduation, of continuous clinical experience, preferably in a multidisciplinary hospital setting or at IOM/similar international clinic context;
- Experience in Migration Heath Assessments;
- Demonstrated progressive experience in health programme management;
- Experience in report writing;
- Experience in migration health emergency response is an asset; and,
- Experience in establishing partnerships with government institutions, health institutions and other partners.
Skills
- Excellent technical skills and counselling skills
- Training or working experience in the areas of Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage.
- Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access).
- Team working and computer skills are needed
Languages:
Thorough knowledge of English and Arabic (oral and written).
Fluency in Darior Pashto (oral and written) is required.
