The Program / Department / Team
Tawazon – The Promoting the Voice and Leadership of Women Activity is a five-year activity that will
create transformational changes in gender relations at the family, community, and national levels to
enhance gender equality and advance women’s leadership in Jordan. This will be achieved through: 1)
strengthening the enabling environment and institutional capacity and addressing structural barriers for
women to fully exercise their rights, express their agency and freely lead and participate in society without
restrictions; 2) partnering with local stakeholders to counter prevailing prohibitive social norms that
perpetuate gender inequality, undermine women’s agency to exercise their rights, and prevent
transformative change in gender relations; and 3) advancing the inclusive and transparent leadership
and decision-making participation of girls and women.

The Position
The Communications Content Creator Coordinator position is part of the Capacity Building and Social
Behavior Change and Communications (SBC) team in the Tawazon Activity. The Communications
Coordinator will work in close collaboration and coordination with the Gender Community of Practice
Secretariat Liaison, the Communications and Behavior Change Team Lead, and Mercy Corps Senior
Communications Officer. The Communications Coordinator will support the implementation of the
activity’s communications and public outreach strategy and manage the design, development and
dissemination of high-quality communications tools and materials. The Coordinator is also responsible
for developing and designing a variety of visual content in English and Arabic about Jordanian women’s
contribution and participation in political, economic and civil society. The Communications Content
Creator Coordinator is responsible for implementing and monitoring the execution of a communications
strategy designed for the Gender Community of Practice activities. The Coordinator will monitor social
media analytics and other tools as applicable to develop reports detailing the successes and failures of
the communications activities. In addition, the Coordinator will support the Communications and Behavior
Change Team Lead in other communications fields as required.

Essential Responsibilities
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
● Develop communications content in Arabic and English for different channels such as social
media posts, scripts for videos or audio recordings, success stories, press releases and other
print or digital materials.
● Design and deliver the different communications materials produced by both Tawazon and the
Gender Community of Practice.
● Provide technical assistance in planning for communications activities.
● Attend meetings with members of Gender Community of Practice as required for coordinating
communications activities.
● Assist with general Tawazon’s operations and field-based activities to capture information to
produce clear and timely communication of Tawazon’s work with target participants.

INFLUENCE AND REPRESENTATION
● Document and share learnings and best practices from this program to be shared both internally
and externally.
● Document and disseminate key findings from program studies and evaluations in a simple manner
to influence program design and donor and policy makers’ priorities.
● Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to
Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
● Other duties as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING

team members to commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit Mercy Corps as well as
themselves.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Communications and Behavior Change Team Lead
WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Communications and Behavior Change Team Lead, Gender Community of
Practice Secretariat Liaison, and Senior Communications Officer. In addition to other Tawazon team
members as required.

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our
program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding
international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as
equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
● Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
● A minimum of five years related experience in developing, managing and implementing
communications plans.
● A minimum of five years experience in designing visual content in Arabic and English. Content
includes social media posts, videos, infographics and other materials digital or print materials.
● Working knowledge of USAID standards and guidelines – especially regarding branding,
marking and communications – is a must.
● Experience in managing social media campaigns in multiple platforms.
● Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and the ability to perform and collaborate under challenging
conditions.
● Experience in women and girls empowerment, gender-based violence, community mobilization,
or social behavior change programs is preferred.
● Proficiency in working with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
● Proficiency in taking, recording, and editing photos and videos.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word and ability to use
information technology as a tool and resource.
● Strong writing and editing skills in both Arabic and English.
● Strong organization skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
simultaneously.

A successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with

deadlines with flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving. This position requires an ability
to think creatively about changing norms that lead to greater opportunities for women’s engagement and
leadership at household, community and institutional levels. They will have a proven ability to learn
quickly, multi-task, prioritize, take initiative, and be accountable for results, understand the larger picture
while remaining focused on the details, problem solving, work within a complex and sensitive setting and
to follow laws and security protocols. The most successful Mercy Corps team members have a strong
commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make
effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations.
